I researched survival staffs online, but they were very expensive. I decided to buy this and make my own. The base unit is very solid, and the included carrying case is good for keeping it in your car. However, it's too short to be an actual staff. I purchased 3 additional segments, which all matched the core unit, and now I have a quality metal hiking staff, with a few tool attachments and room inside the segments to store a small cache of emergency supplies (bandages, small flashlight, etc.).

I was nervous about this item being a bit rickety or poorly manufactured but I thought that I'd take a chance. After it arrived I checked it out thoroughly I was blown away by the attention to detail, how well thought out it was, and especially how strong it is. This is an amazing walking stick, which also gives me a knife, and a saw but it also will fit my blow-gun quite nicely inside as well as some fire starting materials. I haven't tried it yet, but I also believe that a water filter may fit inside as well. I'm beyond pleased. This is one of the best three outdoor items that I've purchased in the past ten years and I've purchased a LOT of products. This walking stick has my highest endorsement.

Seems to be a good product I was pleasantly surprised that it arrived early. Upon taking out of the box I found everything in order, the only flaw that i found is that the fishing knife/spear tool was loose in its plug which screws into one of the ends of a section. It rattles when I walk with the staff which was a bit annoying. I'll probably try to fix with some epoxy. One thing I wish the vendor would have provided is a few extra aluminum plugs so that one could isolate the sections which i plan on holding various items. I dont want to put a flashlight in a section only to find that it has moved to another when I go to look for it. I'm tall so I added 4 additional sections which will be good for storage if Ican get plugs for each. With all sections together the staff is weighty but not bad at all. I immediately took a 2 mile hike and I found it comfortable to carry. I definitely got some looks from the traditional wood staff carrying people. I like it and I beleve that its built well and will last. Ill need to find some plugs somewhere to make it a tool I can both use for stability and carrying gear.

While the segments are well made and fit tightly together, the overall length is incredibly short. I ordered two poles and used three segments from the 2nd to make a pole long enough for my my 6' 1" height, but this made it very heavy and unwieldy. Neither pole had a functional compass, the rope on each was too short to go around my hand and none of the cutting surfaces was sharp. The saw blade teeth were dull, coated with black paint and would not cut more than 1/2" into a stick without binding. Thanks to Amazon policy, both were easily returned and I bought a hardwood broom handle at a local DIY store for $7.00 instead and will carry my Leatherman.

It’s the right length— it didn’t have the screw driver .. everything else is good.. I don’t want to return it — how can I get the screw driver without returning everything

Product is solid. Very weighty & was a unique gift. Although delivery was poor, company made good and like I mentioned, product was solid and well received.
