A number of versions exist of this game. And I wasn’t sure which one to choose. But apparently this is the most complete version as it includes 170 cards so that you can play it more extensively and with a larger group of people and in many different variants. Moreover, this set also includes 6 plastic brain pieces rather than the paper versions, so that each player has a brain to keep track of the scores. The game comes with a colourful instruction booklet that explains the cards in a straightforward manner. Apparently, playing this game stimulates your brain. Well, I haven’t noticed an improvement. But that is probably because there isn’t much to stimulate.Nevertheless, it is a straightforward but exciting game. You can play it with 2 to 6 people, but we usually play it with our family of four. Each game takes around 15 minutes. Our youngest is 7 and though the game is suggested for 8 years and older, he quite likes it and is quite good at most of the challenges.The card-based set is essential a selection of “tests” ranging from puzzles, mazes, memorising numbers, Solving mathematical sequences, and there are cords with some sort of braille language. There are 8 types different challenges on the card and these have to shuffled and placed face down in a pile. When a card is drawn, the fastest player to give the correct answers wins the round. If you gave an uncorrected answer, perhaps because you took a guess, you’ll be benched in the next round.As it is quite a compact game, we also bring it along for our frequent trips abroad.All in all an entertaining and exciting game. Recommended.

This has been a bit of a slow burner. We played it once or twice in the early days and then sort of forgot about it, but having rediscovered it it's quite popular in our house now. It is a good tactile game. My son likes the tiny brain pieces that you put together as your tokens to win. The games are memory, counting, touch, lateral thinking. It is a good challenge and there is an interesting variety of card types. It is the junior version so I have to let my son win quite often, and it's a bit too complicated for him to play with friends without me there to help, but he's only six so in a couple of years I think he'll be able to enjoy it without me. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the more difficult version of Cortex when he's a bit older.

Bought this for my nieces and they loved it. Whenever they come visit they want to play this. Super game.
