VERY PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR INVENTORS AND PRODUCT DEVELOPERS!
I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! This book covers the most important steps one needs to take, to convert ideas and concepts into successful marketable products that can make seriously big passive income. It has been known for a long time, by experienced product developers, that design, patenting, engineering and prototyping of a new product is simply not enough for commercial success - and only represents about 15% of the entire effort needed to see real income. This book discusses the other 85% of knowledge and specific actions needed to convert a working prototype into a commercial success - i.e. Big passive income from royalty payments and licensing agreements. The author had also done his homework very well by providing many useful resources and websites to help readers invent, protect, promote and profit from their inventions. I would highly recommend this book for all inventors. Also, I think it should be a required course textbook for most "Engineering Design" and "Entrepreneurial" type University courses that deal with product design and commercialization, because it is well organized, easy to understand, and covers the most important areas needed to convert good ideas into passive income. Along with this book, I would also recommend readers study "From concept to consumer" (by Phil Baker), and "One simple idea for startups and entrepreneurs" (by Stephen Key), covering the topics of licencing and starting (or outsourcing) manufacturing operations in much more detail. As a Mechanical Engineering academic (Professor, lecturer and researcher) who had been teaching engineering analysis, product design and manufacturing at several different Universities for about 21 years so far, I highly recommend these 3 books for novices and aspiring inventors who want to profit from their ideas, and to all engineering students interested in product development and commercialization. "Hardcore Inventing" is a must read for serious product developers who want to see real monetary rewards for all their hard work...

I'm a prolific inventor, but not at a very proficient marketer. This helps to give me a kick in the butt.

Have an idea for something...........this book will tell you all you need to make it come alive. KEITH PAYNE
I have the signed first edition of this book. It is amazingly simple to read and understand given the subject matter which is utterly confusing, normally. When "mind inventing" a perfect answer to something needed in the world, you start out to get it produced and find you are soon "Dead in the Water". No Longer. With Yonover's book in hand, you will soon be on your way.........the Best Way for you;..........as he explains a variety of ways you can accomplish this. Using some of his own highly successful inventions to explain the different processes to you, you never find yourself "bogged down" and having to go back and re read. I read this book in one sitting............took me all day and some into the night. But I understood it when I was finished reading................no need for study until you get ready to start the actual process. You will not need anything else once you decide what you want to promote................the book even helps you to do that. Also, Yonover has written a great copy of this but designed for children. I believe he said he came up with some of his first inventions before he was ten. With a book like this to guide him, he could well have been inventing long before he started. You have or know a child who has "ideas" or an inquiring mind? They may not be as silly as you think. You deserve this book even if you don't have an invention yet............you soon will and you will be off on a wild and exciting adventure. KEITH PAYNE

One of two books I highly recommend to the inventor who wants to transform his or her idea into something that makes money!
When I cruise through B&N and spot a book that might be helpful to my SCORE-dot-org clients I usually take the necessary steps to write a book review for it. These days I am being a little more particular as to what I will review since I am tiring of the activity. But I could not let this book slide by. In my humbe opinion it is a great companion book to Invent Yourself Rich: 16 Secrets for Creating Million-Dollar Inventions which I read and wrote a review for a few years back. The instant book has five parts broken into twenty chapters and three appendices as follows:I. Invent (1-8)II. Protect (9-11)III. Promote (12-14)IV. Profit (15-20)V. Appendices (A-C)0. Introduction1. Success story - The Rescue Streamer Technology2. Identifying & solving the problem3. How nature inspired my inventions4. Scour your brain5. Making your idea a reality: Inventor's logs, prototypes, & marketing evaluations6. Build a show prototype7. Name your invention8. Checklist - Is your idea feasible, marketable & financially viable?9. Safeguard your intellectual property - Paranoia can be good10. Step-by-step guide from disclosure to patent - Etch it in stone11. Alernatives to utility patents12. Get your invention out there13. Find investors: Targeted strikes & mobilizing the troops14. Protect yourself from fraudulent promotion companies15. Licening16. Manufacturing17. Marketing18. The home entrepreneur - Bottom-feeding19. Venture Capitalists & angel investors20. Critical crossroadsA. Useful Web sitesB. Suggested readingC. Sample agreements & lettersThe book is not written by an attorney nor a business consultant. It's written by an inventor who wants to share his experiences in getting his invention (Rescue Streamer Technology) patented and profitable. He's also probably written it as a marketing tool for his invention. If I had not read the book, then I would never have heard of his invention. This book is probably more detailed and a little bit more informative than the book I read a few years back. It gives another perspective - so I highly recommend anyone interested in the subject get both books and become very informed on the topic. 5 stars!
