This is a very nice product, and support and videos are top notch! That said if you are not mechanically inclined and have done modifications before, this is a project best left to some who is. If say the heck with it I can do it, good for you…just my advice….watch the video 5 times! Go get it!

Hands down, this knob made my driving experience much better since I drive my car in manual mode about 80% of the time. The knob is of perfect size and fit, quality materials, and the writing / logo is sleek. I've already got several compliments on how great it looks and feels. Just like what many others have experienced with a retrofit knob install, this is NOT easy to install and you should have a professional mount it for you. This is because of the orientation of the button - if it's not front/back on stock, then it requires you to warp the control lever 90 degrees. This is not the fault of RKX and they have a video that shows how to do it. If you still insist on doing it on your own, use a heat gun and be very patient. And when installing the knob, make sure it's pressed down ALL the way down until you hear a loud click (the engagement of the knob to the control surface) and use a rubber mallet (after covering the knob) to confirm placement. My only gripe is that the boot did not fit my 4L but I already knew this limitation. Still, I wish I could have bought it tailor-made for my model.

This product is made of good quality material and feels nice in hand, however. no where does it mention that this product is a right or left hand drive model.there are subtle differences, so not only do you need to modify the shifter rod, if you want to install it in a right hand drive vehicle you will also need to re-use the old boot surround.

The description literally says B8 S4 and the bracket that the boot is stapled to is ~1/2” smaller than the OEM S4 bracket - and the snaps do not align either.Instructions say you can transfer the new boot over to the OEM bracket. So I gave that a try even though since the footprint is larger on OEM boot, I knew it wouldn’t work properly. Hopefully you have a staple gun and upholstery experience! Bit of a nightmare trying to stretch the undersized boot. I gave it the old college try and it looks like garbage. Had to split the seem and threads to get it remotely closeUpdate your listing - this is not intended for a b8 S4. I’d like a refund.

It looks great installed and is a great price however you must know that getting the plastic rod heated and twisted perfectly so the gear lock button functions properly will not happen on the first try and this is risky because if the button does not fully disengage you can accidentally shift the car into reverse while in forward motion (good bye trans). Also there needs to be instructions on resetting the button as I had to figure it out after having it depress while trying to remove it. Many others had the same problem. Expand the install instructions it it will be great..
