This is a three books collection. Titles in this collection are : Ship of Magic, The Mad Ship, Ship of Destiny Robin Hobb was born in California in 1952 and majored in Communications at Denver University, Colorado. Assassin's Apprentice was her first novel, and was followed by the equally successful Royal Assassin and Assassin's Quest. She lives outside Seattle, Washington. The magic and mayhem continue in this thrilling second instalment of Hobb's new series. Althea Vestrit has found a new home aboard the liveship Ophelia, but she lives only to reclaim the Vivacia as her rightful inheritance. However, the Vivacia has been captured by the pirate, 'King' Kennit, and is acquiring a keen bloodlust. Meanwhile in Bingtown, the fading fortunes of the Vestrit family lead Malta deeper into the magical secrets of the mysterious Rain Wilds Traders. And just outside Bingtown, Amber dreams of relaunching the Paragon, The Mad Ship! The second volume in this superb trilogy from the author of THE FARSEER TRILOGY continues the dramatic tale of piracy, serpents, love and magic. Hobb is one of the great modern fantasy writers! what makes her novels as addictive as morphine is not just their imaginative brilliance but the way her characters are compromised and manipulated by politics.' The Times Assassin's Apprentice: 'A gleaming debut' PUBLISHERS WEEKLY Assassin's Quest: 'Assassin's Quest achieves a bittersweet, powerful complexity rare in fantasy' LOCUS 'Robin Hobb writes achingly well' SFX Praise for The Liveship Traders series: 'Even better than the Assassin books. I didn't think that was possible' George R R Martin 'Hobb is a remarkable storyteller.' Guardian. Review: Great Books - So, this trilogy is my least favorite of the series, BUT still amazing. Hard for pirate tales to not be amazing. Characters are unique and interesting. With a good compelling story. Review: Robin Hobb's trilogy about the Live ships is amazing. The concept of the liveships and the world ... - Robin Hobb's trilogy about the Live ships is amazing. The concept of the liveships and the world that Hobb has created is brilliant. I have enjoyed them so much that in my spare time there is little else that I do apart from read; I need to know what happens. There are several story lines occurring in this trilogy and I was engaged by all of them; I needed to know what happens to ALL the characters. Hobb writing makes you believe in the characters; their lives, loves and trials. What I enjoyed most was the twists and turns; sometimes you read books and you know where the author is taking you; Hobb changes things up so that you may be on the general path, but the path looks and feels nothing like you though it would.. Great read, I couldn't wait to start "The Rain Wild Chronicles" which flows on from the last book "Ship of Destiny" A big fat five stars!!!!

stunning conclusion
An epic way to conclude the trilogy. Superb writing as ever from Hobb. The incredible characters stories masterfully told so that the reader experiences the trials and triumphs along with them. I will miss them all.

What is the nonsense I CANNOT PUT down?
Hm......my 3rd trilogy of Ms. Hobb. I read the first 2 Fitz trilogies before I realized there was an “order” to the books. It was hard not to read the last Fitz trilogy and start this instead, but I did. At first, I thought there was no way I could finish the first Liveship book. So weird and boring and thought what does this have to do with anything. But I plowed through and read the 2nd, but was much better. Though, I oftimes thought “this whole premise is ridiculous”. I still kept going as I couldn’t put it down. Parts of me still think “this is ridiculous” but others realize this is a “world” created by a very talented imagination. I Kept going to book three and am glad and as began to see how these stories are entertwined with the whole Farseer trilogy. If you love the Fool, you must read this trilogy. I’m not sure this is my favorite trilogy but it has grown on me immensely

Even better than the Farseer Trilogy!
I was bereft at being parted from the characters in the Farseer books. It took me a minute to warm to this new world. Once I did, however, I was hooked. The storytelling is so imaginative and the depth of detail so skilled, one believes this world exists, somewhere. Hobb is gifted, make no mistake. Despite some editing gaffes, I recommend wholeheartedly!

Great Storyteller
I don’t dislike anything about her books, I just love reading her stories, they will keep you glued until the very end. Then you are disappointed that end has come. But you can go back and order new stories you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent series!
I read these 3 books in a month, I'm so busy but couldn't put them down. It's so emotional and I was so invested in these characters. Going to read all of her books now. The way she expertly writes her characters and the plot, so intricate, so beautiful. Worth every penny. I will say it it dark. These characters go through so much but the payoff is worth it.

Amazing
I was a huge fan of the Assassins Apprentice trilogy, and was a bit put out to discover the next trilogy in the series, didn't follow Fitz's journey. But I have to be honest. This trilogy is even better than the Assassins trilogy. While the story, characters and plot are all great in the Assassins trilogy. And the writing in itself is so good the books are amazing on those merits alone. For me personally, I just felt the Assassins trilogy lacked darkness ( in the form of violence and grit ect ) which is surprising given the storyline. However the Liveship traders trilogy was everything the Assassins trilogy was and more. The characters were great, the storyline was immersive and flowed well, and the writing was, as usual from Robin Hobb, exceptional! But even better, was how gritty and violent the books were throughout. Not overly so,but just enough to really capture the imagination and shock you (especially Captian Kennits story and character). How it subtly ties into the Assassins trilogy was also really well done. All in all an amazing trilogy. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful story, good edition and perfect shipment.
I love these books. I have "read" them in audiobooks, and I could not wait to have them on paper. These stories are bewitching and will keep you reading all the 16 volumes of the Robin Hobb universe, with characters that grow up and live all kinds of adventures in a world where you have 2 kinds of magic. As I said, I could not stop listening and I mean to reread them all over again. The binding is quite good, the book opens almost 180 degrees without having to crease the spine. Also, the library that sent them was perfect, the books arrived in perfect condition, with only a little delay on Customs (no payment had to be done).
