Amazing storytelling
I bought this after reading the first Farseer trilogy.I found this even more interesting and harder to put down than the initial trilogy. The story is very compelling, the characters very well written and the huge universe Robin Hobb created is fascinating. She writes really well, quite descriptive but not too much. The mythology is comparable to something like Game of Thrones and even Lord Of the Rings. Reading these books put me in mind of Game of Thrones quite a lot due to the epicness and sheer complexity of the stories and universe. This is slightly darker than the first Farseer trilogy. I have already bought the next trilogy, resuming Fitz's story but will be sad to leave Althea and Vivacia behind. As some have said, especially towards the end, the love story becomes a bit too much but it didn't take away from the story too much.I chose to take with me the mythology and the story of the dragons and add it as a layer over Fitz's story which makes me very excited for the next few books.I cannot recommend this enough.

Fantastic, complex, emotional
A deeply engrossing and complex series that follows the lives of both ships and crews in a fantasy world. Brilliant.

Many POV
It is a good series and an enjoyable read. It had at least a dozen different POV (points of view), meaning it has the thoughts and emotions of multiple characters. I wasn’t sure who was the main character or if there was a main character. I’m not sure why the author did this. I suspect it was feedback from her Farseerer series which had a more clever way of changing POV.Sometimes the scene changes are so abrupt you don’t realise you’ve changed to a new scene. Often, two characters speak in one paragraph. Often I couldn’t tell which character was speaking. Many of the protagonists were likeable and interesting.Despite these style elements, it is masterfully researched and intriguing. It ties in with her Farseer trilogies.Trigger warnings for amputation and X violence.

UNPUTDOWNABLE
Could not stop reading these books.Did not want them to end.Its an effort to return to real life when you come up for air! Highly recommended for escapism

Amazing, beautiful storytelling.
Robin Hobb is truly a masterful author. I really enjoyed The Farseer Trilogy and this trilogy was equally impressive, set in the same world after the events of the previous trilogy but in a completely different environment and with new fantasy elements.I read a lot of fantasy and Hobb really sets herself apart from the pack.
