Wow really loved it
Great writing and art and lettering. Nothing you haven't seen for the most part lettering wise but art wise some nice different choices to see in a more main stream more read then other batman stories. I like most of Snyders stuff, some of it I don't but for the most part I like his work but this was one of my favorite ones yet. Kept me guessing, personally, till the very end and also didn't know who it was by page 5. The trust and distrust between ALL the characters in general and because the stakes are high and different. Very very wel done on that end by showing the trust and hate some of the characters have for each other yet at times in this forced to work together or trust and it made me extremely excited for volume 2.

Spoiler and Others Return!
Batman Eternal is an ambitious project to celebrate Batman's 75th anniversary. This volume collects the first half a year long epic that has many of DC's top talent. The writing is managed by Scott Synder and James Tynion, who plan out the entire story, while the actual story beats are handled by other writers like Tim Seely, John Layman, Ray Fawkes, and later Kyle Higgins. The art is handled by an even more massive list with the various issues being drawn by Jason Fabok, Dustin Nguyen, Andy Clarke, and others. The book isn't bad, as it's a love letter to Batman that brings in many familiar faces, as well as some New 52 debuts that should have been done years ago! You will get to see the story spread from Batman in Tokyo, Batgirl and Red hood in South America, Batwing and Spectre in Arkham, and practically everything in-between. Some of the art is fantastic, particularly Jason Fabok who does the opening issues. Most artist try to add atmosphere to the different plot threads that all represent different parts of the Batman mythos. The down side about all these things happening in this book is that the pacing is uneven. Some issues, the story moves fast and is just simply epic. Other issues feel like the series has to pump the breaks, and the story shows it as occasionally an issue contuines almost no momentum in the plot. The story threads are sometimes left hanging for several issues before it's picked back up,(Batwing's Story disappears for way to long!) Also some of returning characters that return aren't really given great background explanations, so it's impossible to known what of the old D.C. continuity stands, a problem that still plagues the New 52. Also with so many artists there are big shifts artistically every few issues, and some artists don't stand up to the work of others.Overall Batman Eternal is a grand undertaking that is easily the best of DC's three weekly series that they have been doing. While the plot can be sluggish, big things still happen, and Batman's universe is shaken up immensely. This volume also is a great deal as you get 400 plus pages! Hopefully when volume two comes out, you can read the entire epic easily.

Great story, but a bit of a cluster
There is many plots in this volume, so many going at the same time, going back and forth, it's a bit confusing at times but Scott Snyder delivers on this comic. Some of the art is iffy, but most of it is very good. I wish all of the art was By Jason Fabok, he is truly a legend.

Pleasantly Surprising (review for entire series)
This is a another fantastic piece of work by Scott Snyder. It has not been about a year since I have read this run, so I'm trying to recall some minor details of this book. Let me just say that this is an example of a GOOD Batman crossover. Yes, it follows various character perspective, but I don't think it wastes any of your time and it is very entertaining, and I'm someone who typically HATES crossovers. The premise of the book is this: there has been a train bombing and the evidence points to Commissioner Jim Gordon committing this act of terrorism. Throughout the story, Batman must find evidence that Gordon was framed and prove his innocence. I think this is a great set-up because it causes a lot of characters to go crazy, dealing with this disaster and shows characters react in different ways. Batgirl (who is Gordon's daughter) goes on a vigilante rampage to clear her fathers name. There is some very well done fan service with the character Stephanie Brown who actually plays a big role in this story after she was originally erased from the New 52 universe. This series is no masterpiece, but it is very entertaining in my opinion. There are some very great twists and fun dialog throughout, its a good time. I would definitely recommend checking out this series.

Batman Eternal
This was a second read though and still holds up. Can't remember if I read the next book but we'll see who's behind everything.

I really enjoyed the first few chapters with James Gordon being framed ...
I recently read Batman Vol 8: Superheavy by Scott Snyder and after finishing it, ordered the Batman Eternal trade paperbacks from amazon on a whim. I really enjoyed the first few chapters with James Gordon being framed and put in prison. However, about 1/3 of the way thru the book, while Gordon awaits trail, the stories really start to lag, which I suppose is an inherent fallacy of reading a weekly serialized comic book series in collected form: You can't just resolve everything right away, you've got to stretch it out over 52 issues. Therefore, there will always be padded out plots. The supernatural/horror chapters where Batwing & the Spectre are hunting demons underneath Arkham (or whatever, I really didn't get that whole sequence) was annoying and jarring. Batman & the occult never really mix well for my tastes.Towards the end of this volume, members of the Batman extended family come-and-go with minimal plot impact. It was almost like they wrote chapters for Batgirl, Red Hood, Batwoman, Batwing, Red Robin, Spolier, etc as filler material with no real intention to drive the story forward. Anyways, I'd give it 3/5 stars and hope things pick back up with the 2nd volume.

All out war
Got this book as a gift for a friend. The freaks Batman villians against the mob. Batman has to stop them with the help of the police. This book has crazy twists and other stories. Gordon gets arrested and who started this war. Bat family drama and cops with there own agenda. Dead rising. Better than I thought. Read all the volumes and each one gets better. This one was more of a set up but very good

Barman Eternal on Kindle
Brilliant storyline, keeps you hooked from 1 chapter to the next. What a reveal near the end. I cannot wait to read Volume 2. The artwork is amazing for the most part, couple of iffy looking scenes halfway through, but in the whole I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend it to any Bat fans.

Bumper Book Of Batman!
This volume contains issues 1-21 of the Batman Eternal weekly series as imagined by Scott Snyder & James Tynion IV and then written by six different authors and numerous artists, colourers and letterers. The fact that it emerges from that mix of talent as any kind of a coherent story at all is an achievement but it manages to do so and with style! Now I’m not “all in” with the bat family so the fact that so many of the extended family of heroes and villains appear here made the plot a lot more interesting and enjoyable for me, I got to see a lot more of the Batman universe than I normally do and so I think there is something in here for everyone, old fans and new alike. The story rattles along at breakneck speed and was compelling throughout, it’s a huge book, but it’s still a quick read as you don’t want to put it down. My favourite book of the year so far!

Was good but not so great
Just finished reading. This story so far could have been done in less pages honestly. Wasn't any heart moving movements I look back and think on. A new character was introduced near the end who will be in the next, then a developing character in the making and one character's true loyalties has shifted.

Really strong storyline
This is a really good, coherent and well drafted set of issues. The shift in artists at times creates something of a 'jar' but overall ther feel is really strong.Haven't read the New 52 Batman, so this was my first step into this world and I have to say that it was really worthwhile.Yes, I'll be seeking out Volume 2.
