Out of the box I give it 3 stars. My product would not activate so I had limited features (couldnt import templates) which is only part of the problem.Its pretty basic, like using word 94. Was easy to install and set up and the cards came out only ok. The first print was bad. I dont know if touching the card makes it worse or if the first one is just bad.It does do a little security print overlay which is cool.

We purchased this for a 250 employee organization and from initial tests, it prints well except for one thing explained at the bottom. Colors and black text are high resolution and clear however you do not want to go with a text smaller than size 6. Any less than 6 and readability degrades.Setup is easy and drivers are included. The worst part is the software. We opted for the alphacard Standard suite (an extra 600 dollars) for us to be able to store cards into a database. The software is way overpriced. Should be probably 300 max. Software sometimes crashes and unstable. Also when printing a card template with two sides, the back side always prints in black and white instead of color. We tried all settings possible and couldn't fix it so we made a separate template for the backside to be able to print in color.The alphaguard hologram/watermark feature is pretty cool, makes it look a little more official.We also cannot figure out why sometimes when printing, there are yellow splotches that are barely visible on the card. Which is weird.

DIdn't know what to expect. I must say that it does a pretty good job for what I needed it to do. I have a small school and needed ID cards for students and it made them nicer than I hoped for. So I can recommend this product to you and that is contingent upon what you're looking for in an ID printer. If you're looking for super high quality, don't purchase. But if you're looking for a decent quality ID printer for a reasonable price, I think this is the printer to get the job done. It will do front and back of card, but you will have to take it out and flip it.

This printer is excruciatingly painful to use. It has issues connecting to windows, requires reinstall after printing just a few cards and has random ongoing issues. Very unhappy customer with no options for help. We’ve tried calling for assistance and no one helps. Would give 0 stars but it won’t let me submit without at least one star.
