I moved to the city and after a few months of living here I noticed my hair started to fall out and wasn't as thick anymore, it would feel grease and matted only a few hours of washing it. I was having problems with large amounts of dandruff on my head. I was starting to get so upset, and would honestly cry every time I took a shower and would see how much hair was covering the shower floor. I take very good care of my long, thick and shiny hair and now all the sudden it's thinning out and the roots are greasy while the ends are dry and all tangled up to the point where I couldn't even run a brush through it, even after using lots of conditioner. Getting desperate I went and spent hundreds of dollars on high brand shampoos and conditioners and nothing would work so I came to the realization that my hair was probably just changing and I had to get used to it. Not only being upset about that, I also noticed my face was breaking out which I never had problems with this before moving. Also over all my skin was feeling so rough and dry even after using lotion everyday. I thought maybe all this had something to do with my poor eating habits after I moved. So I started eating very healthy and cut sugar out of my diet completely. After 5 months all that happened was I lost weight, there was still no change in my hair or skin. Then one day someone told me about city water and they said it was "hard water" and how much it can take a heavy toll on skin and hair. Not having the money to install a water system through the whole house I decided to get on Amazon in hopes to find a shower head that had a built in water filter that was easy to replace when needed. Then I stumbled on to this product and I can not even put into words how happy I'am and how much gratitude I have for this shower. filter. It saved my hair and skin. Honestly, after just 1 shower I noticed how much softer my skin was and after just 7 showers all of the pimples on my face were gone and I was using the same face wash I was using before. The best part of it all was just after 10 showers the nice, shiny and thick hair that I always had was finally back!!! There was no more dandruff, it wasn't greasy or matted anymore, it stopped falling out completely and no more tangles. I don't even have to use conditioner anymore because this filter makes me hair so soft I can run a brush right through it with ease! The shower head that you can buy from the same company that goes with this filter is so easy to install and the filter itself is a breeze to replace! I really wish I would have known about this filter before I spent so much money on high end shampoo and conditioner. I can not believe how cheap this filter is compared to what an amazing job it dose. The best part is you only need to change it every six months. $11.99 every 6 months is a great price to pay to have nicer hair and skin. One also already comes with the shower head! I Will never buy anything but Culligan shower filters for the rest of my life! I could not be more happy with this product and would rate it 100,000 stars if I could!

We moved to a country house with well water after a lifetime of city water and were none too happy with our new shower water situation. My hair turned bronze and limp, our skin always felt as though we had soap residue on it, mineral deposits quickly built up on the shower tile and oh, the smell...that earthy, slightly eggy smell of well water that omg...better not get into my mouth! I was actually researching brightening shampoos (all my research starts on Amazon) to help remove the brassiness from my hair and a shampoo reviewer was dissing the shampoo while raving about her Culligan Water Filter. Not sure why "water filter for shower" never crossed my brain, but I bought one on the spot. Instant game changer. Our showers are a whole new experience! No funky water smell. My hair is fluffy and blonde again. No weird soap residue on our skin. No mineral deposits on tile. Amazing. The water feels cleaner and fresher than even our previous treated city water. The filter that came with the Culligan lasted us appx 4.5 months before I started noticing it was losing its effectiveness and was time to replace. Family of 2, daily showers at a minimum and a dog that also gets frequent showers. We had hoped to get 6 months out of it, but it is so simple to change and is a fair value for the benefits. Highly recommend buying the Culligan and stocking up on these replacement filters! A must have for well water and will definitely benefit city water, too!

I live in Los Angeles and it's well documented and widely known that we are in a severe drought. Originally, LA had five different water sources ranging from upstate to the Owens River. So the water changes periodically and it can be quite hard in quality. That really took a toll on my hair. I have brown hair and have never colored my hair once in my entire life. My hair started to turn a brassy, orange color and got very dried out and nothing seemed to help. So I got this filter and cut my hair and started fresh. I haven't had any problems. This shower head also protects from bacterial growth or bacteria in general. It's a great filter. I change it as recommended. It's very easy to use. All you do is pop it into the corresponding shower head, making sure not to let the rubber washers move off (there's no reason they should but they ensure that the filter stays in place so that it is effective). I will say that buying and using this filter is one of the smartest moves I've ever made. Using this shower filter is a lot cheaper than dying and treating my hair, and in general I have a better shower experience. No matter where I live I can still use this filter. I think this is a smart buy and if you are on the fence about what shower head and filter to get I'd say this is a safe purchase. It's effective and the price point is very reasonable. You'll be happy you got this and when you need to replace it you won't be set back as much as with other filters. Good luck!

Not that great but better than nothing

Well this is specifically the filter we need for our shower head. So it's not like we had options. However with that said we have well water that is extremely high in Magnesium and Iron. We have a whole house filter and a water softener. The tubs get the rust color quickly and easily. If I'm not on top of it the sulfur, rotten egg smell will happen. So without this filter and shower head we have trouble as the wife and I have very thick curly hair. If the water is not filtered well we both have frizzy Afros. You can feel the unfiltered water on your skin as well. Feels as if the soap is never rinsed away. And the smell is terrible. This filter is fantastic...it takes care of all the hard water issues in the shower. Our hair feels great and is manageable, skin feels refreshed and rinsed well. The filter that came with the shower head was used for a year and a half. I could tell once it was full and took it out and shook it, black water, disgusting. Soaked it and took it out side and man handled it to clear it a bit and used it again for a few months. Just got married and purchased a home, yes I'm a cheap arse. I will certainly just buy these every 6 months as Amazon and it's sellers make life too easy. We are proof these work very well as our water is very hard and it gives us great hair and skin. Very well worth the $ to not hear your wife complain on a daily basis that the water is making her hair look like crap. In fact that is a business idea...you pay me a monthly membership fee and your wife can call and complain all she wants to me. I am so good at pretending I'm listening. I should have several Oscars on the mantle. Who started marriage, I will punch them.

I use this with another filter and the two work great. By itself it still works very well but not quite as well as my double filter system.

These shower filters have been a great addition to our home. They help reduce exposure to city water chemicals like chlorine, which has made a difference for our hair and skin. From a health and wellness standpoint, it’s a simple and affordable improvement to make.

Great product, easy to install and most importantly soften the water. We live in Saudi Arabia where the water is extremely hard. It is so hard that you are advised to buy water. No one drinks tab water or cook with it here. We only use it for laundry, showers etc. anything for topical cleanse. I use the shower filter in my bathroom and my husband doesn't have one in his bathroom. He has so much calcium deposits from hard water on his tab and his skin is dried out. He has to apply creams to his body immediately after getting out of his shower even though he use dove soap which is by far the most moisturizing soap on the shelve. On the other hand, I use dove soap with my shower filter and do not have to apply creams after a shower. My skin do not dry out and neither does my hair. My hair is soft and does not fall out, break etc like before. If you considering buying this filter, also buy the shower head. That's what I did.

I have been using this filter and shower head for 3 years now and can definitely see a significant difference in my little boys dry skin. I can also feel the difference when I shower, my skin is less dry. Please note, I've found, living in a very hard water area such as London, the filter lasts for approx 6 months.

Definitely helps with better hair and skin. Important if you live in an area with hard water. Each filter lasts about 8 months, although that depends on the harshness of the water. Easy to replace. (If, during replacement, the main container can't be unscrewed, soak it in vinegar overnight because the harshness of the water may have caused scaling. Then it'll come undone and you can replace the filter.)
