Formex Snap Lock Large Chicken Coop Backyard Hen House 4-6 Large 6-12 Bantams

I have bought 4 other coops for different reasons and this one is one of my favorite as far as how easy it is to put together and being able to move it as I move my chickens to a new area. Sometimes it is fun to be able to relocate the flock. Because it is light weight two people can easily relocate it. Or one person can take it apart and build it back in less than 30 minutes again. So easy! The other ones I have are super heavy and are good for the areas that are staying as is. I feel like this coop can accommodate a max of 6 large hens pretty comfortably. Although I pushed it a bit and put 7. I have 3 Marans, 1 Australorp, 1 Jersey giant, 2 Ameraucanas). I removed the current door and put a solar door on a timer. Get the kind that opens side ways so you can keep the little roof over the door for protection during rain. We put cinder blocks under to elevate it and the hens love to hang out under during the day. I think it helps for shelter from air predators. We have a fake crow flying over as a flag and electric fence around the coop. Some trees and bushes. This coop is pricey but it is cute and feels very durable. Easy to clean for sure. I like the option of vents that can be open and closed. Also there are plenty of access to the nesting boxes and from the very top. If the price was a bit less I would buy 2 more! Waiting for a sale ;).

We have been using this coop since the beginning of summer and it now fall time. It is great! It is easy to clean and easy to get into. We did make the roosting bars bigger to accommodate for bigger chicken feet. I have 5 pretty large chickens and they fit comfortably in this coop. The coop sat outside all winter and there was no fading or cracking of the material. The latches are secure and it looks nice. It was somewhat easy to put together. I still think it is a little pricey for the size but it it is secure. The material is sturdy.

I wanted a coop that I could move to different areas with my chain link fence panels so the chickens could eat the weeds and bugs around my apple trees and 1 acre hobby farm. This coop fit the bill! This was a breeze to assemble with 2 adults! It's quite a bit smaller than I imagined when I purchased it. I had 9 chickens in it over the winter and they did fine. I have six in it now. During the winter, I put feed inside in one of the nest boxes but I have since purchased a feeder that keeps the feed dry outside. The adjustable side vents keep the rain and wind out or allow ventilation depending on the position they are in. I love the easy access to the nesting boxes for gathering eggs! I wish the bottom "skirt" was sturdier. I put some cement blocks in each corner to help support it and that seemed to help. It's fairly easy to clean compared to a wooden coop. Just remove the bedding and hose down! There are 4 plastic "legs" per se that do fill with water from inside when you try to rinse it out. I am considering drilling a small pencil size hole in them for drainage. Also, the carabiners that came with it are too thick around to fit in the metal holes of the locks and they are also cheap and break easily. That was easily fixed by a trip to the dollar store. Overall, I would buy this coop again but don't think I'll need to for quite awhile unless I double my flock. I felt it was a bit pricey for the size, but I'm so in love with its features that I would happily purchase it again! 2 year update: I'm still living this coop! I have removed the bottom, finding it much easier to just lift the coop and move it, leaving the bedding on the ground to act as mulch and fertilizer under my apple trees. I move it every month or so and remove the liners on the laying boxes for a good wash and scrub. It's holding up well and currently houses 10 chickens.

I'd like to meet the clever person who designed this - easy to assemble, strong, and functional; Easy to access nests, roosts, and litter trays. Yes, I could have saved a lot of money building from plans or buying one of the flimsier wood kits. But I doubt I could have ended up with something as good. It took me about 30 minutes to assemble and another 30 minutes to build a stand out of 2x4's and a ramp up to the door. Take your time assembling to make sure you have the right part in the right position before trying to lock into place. Vertical depressions on the outside - horizontal ones on the inside - piece of cake. The only difficulty, as others have reported, is with the awning. More than a little force and a moderate amount of swearing was required to deform and jam the tabs into position. This seems to be the only flaw in an otherwise brilliantly designed coop. Update after using for a few months: Even more impressed than ever, especially after following the advice of other commenters here. For my new flock of 7 chicks, I used it as a brooder in my garage, starting with just the lower section and adding panels as the chicks became more vertically capable. It worked perfectly with the added benefit that the chicks were completely accustomed to their coop when it was moved outside. The baby pig feeder in one of the nesting boxes has been great. A plastic water pitcher with red drip nipples is suspended from one of the perches. I added an automatic door opener. Access to everywhere inside for cleaning is easy. The chicks and I are very, very happy with this coop!

This is an expensive chicken coop, but well worth the money! We have had this coop for 3 years and waited until now to write this. I live in Michigan and winters get cold. The house keeps them nice and warm! Easy access to collect eggs and cleaning the house is a breeze. Our chickens are healthy and happy 3 years later. If you have the money…like they say you get what you pay for and when you get this coop you can be assured that it’s built with quality that you can pass down to family. Easy to put up and take down. Don’t buy the chicken coop from the box store they are not worth the money. Buy this!

I live in a rural area off the grid at the base of a mountain. I've tried other coops. There's even a chicken barn on the property for the landlords flock. This is a very well designed coop and has lots of little extra touches and parts that make it great for the price. The cheaply made Chinese balsa wood coops cost almost as much, fall apart, are poorly designed, and are much smaller. I have learned the hard way that a proper design is imperative for the different seasons and windy days. This coop has a layer of air between the walls and great ventilation opening that can be adjusted. It has everything necessary for the well being, protection, and care of your birds. I had to get rid of a much more expensive coop that fell apart from the weather and use. This one is MUCH more solid and a less expensive. The complaints about being tough to put together? I love that no tools were needed. The more expensive one I got rid of took three days with drills and other tools to put together. This coop took 30 minutes and my wife and kids did it with little help from me. The other complaints and 3 stars I saw about this coop are obviously from inexperienced people who don't know what's important in a coop. More nest boxes? Four are PLENTY and that means lower cost for the coop. Nest boxes drive up the prices. Plus chickens love to share nest boxes. It's their instinct as a flock animal. I can't stand bad or cranky reviews that don't really reflect the actual quality of the product so felt the need to give my 5 star review. I've done a lot of research and feel it paid off. I LOVE this coop and if it's still $759 that's a good price. Enjoy, or good luck.

Amazing coop but I only have three silkies in it. My chickens are spoiled pets and I would probably only have 6 regular size chickens in it. Lower roosting bars are a nice height for the silkies and the top ones would work for larger chickens. Does not leak. Was easy to put together with the instructions. I'm not a very "handy" person but I had no trouble. I think being made in USA means instructions are written well to be understood by USA customers. We did build a stand for it and it got blown over so I took the legs off and just let it sit on the frame but I do have it enclosed in a fenced area for protection. It's easy to take apart and move and then put back together if you remember which side goes where. Super easy to clean and for egg collection. I have a lot of chickens besides the ones who roost in it at night and some of the other hens use it to lay eggs so nest boxes are fine. It has Karabiners for locks which I don't usually like because I have trouble making them work but these are great and easy to use. If you want it off the ground you need to build a frame with legs but it also includes excellent instructions to make the frame. We don't feed our chickens inside their coops but you could put food in one side of the nest boxes if you wanted to or under it if you have it on a frame with legs. I will probably buy another one eventually because it's easy to clean, sturdy and will not rot like my wood coops. Here in OR we have a lot of rain.

A really like the ease of cleaning the hen house. Assembly was easy for two people. One of the clasps was misaligned resulting in a bulge on the bottom back. The seller sent me a new part which reduced the bulge some but not completely. Even so, though a bit pricey, it is a great hen house. The seller was very cooperative.
