Works Perfectly
This item worked as described. It was easy to install and the chute door was functional within minutes. The fire inspector was happy.

Only option
This is not a terrible plunge latch, but not as good as the original one (from the 50s. However, in my experince not many modern mechanical parts measure up to old-school quality). Works fine so far (after a week). The latch head and back wedge are loose in the mount. I imagine the chute and keeping it oiled and will stop it from skewing enough to stop it working. The chute was just its flange-depth longer than the antique. So, if you are replacing an old one be prepared to file almost an eighth inch out of the hole for it to line up with your handle shaft. After searching online for a day, this is was my closest affordable option.
