IKEHIKO Japanese tatami mat tri-foldable 100 x 210 cm for use directly on the floor for sleeping or sitting on

When I opened this, it made me so happy, a lovely green colour with matching trim, the detail and workmanship gone into it is greatly appreciated and lovely to look at. It does have a slight smell which reminds me of sweet potatoes and tea but it hasn't bothered me. I fold it the way it came folded in the box as to not strain the stitching and I think it will only go that direction and wouldn't want to try folding it any other way at risk of weakening fold lines. It is a great base for my floor futon.

I bought a shikibuton from japanesefuton.co.uk & although it's a good shikibuton it was a bit too firm when used directly on my hard floor, despite this Ikehiko folding tatami being only 1cm thick it has made a huge difference from the first night in term of adding just enough cushioned support (along with the additional benefits of allowing the bottom of the shikibuton to breath).I've been using for over a month now & can thoroughly recommend this tatami, for me it was essential.

Beautiful, traditional design. The smell is heavenly as it gives me nostalgia of Japan and its rural areas. It does say in description the scent will fade which I expect. However, I would recommend this product and like to extend my respect and appreciation to the maker.

Looks awesome for a homegym and has this lovely grass smell. Unfortunately it isn’t breathable enough for parquet flooring and mould has now grown after two months. It isn’t suitable for constant use and makes it sadly poo value for money.

Got a couple of these to put under a Japanese style shikifuton. They make a big difference compared to bare floor, and are also very comfortable to stand or sit on. I think they're a bit thinner compared to other tatami meant for sleeping, but they still do a good job.

I bought this because I needed a mat delivered quickly. It was one of the more expensive options, but I did not want to wait forever for the item to arrive. The fact that it was made in Japan inspired confidence. The first minor disappointment is the size. It is advertised as double, but it is not wide enough. The second and most important problem is that after a night's sleep, the grass on the mat smells. I thought it would go away after a while, but it has not. It is comfortable that is why I gave the second star, but I am seriously considering throwing it away because of the smell.

This is the second one I've bought for my other house. Use it daily for 2 years or so. Old one hasn't change a bit. No dislocations, no torn seams. Ideal like the new one. Highly recommend.

Good quality and easy to tidy up.
