Fast router but likes to get Hot!!!!!!
Internet surfing, downloads, and video playback are a lot faster than with my last Linksys router! The reason for four stars is that this router tends to get hotter than my first Linksys router ever did! The best advice I can give is don't leave it plugged in when you're not using it (especially if you'll be away on long trips for more than a few days)! In just two days, mine got pretty hot from being plugged in during that entire time! I'm not sure if anyone has ever had problems with this router overheating (maybe they should start installing small fans to help cool them down a bit) My computer will show only 1 bar of wifi signal / other times it will show 2 or 3 bars which is strange! The worst part is that there is no power switch and has to be manually unplugged each time (a downside to most routers out there). The Only Linksys I've found with a power switch in the rear is the AC1750 dual band router and it still has the internal antenaes (6 of them actually) and I still prefer these routers over the new ones with the 2 or more antenaes sticking out which doesn't make it easy to put into small spaces!

Great price and easy to set up
Great price and easy to set up. Looking at a new router and all the 1, 2 and 3 stars rating on various devices makes one wonder what has happened to quality control or customer support. Don't know these rating are factual or if I just have gotten lucky with the latest purchase. Only time will tell. So far it is running just fine.Oops. I was too optimistic, thinking this little beauty would last as long as my ole wireless G Linksys. It died apparently last night after watching TV. Could not get online this morning. Amazon offered to refund the outlay so now it is back on the hunt for a new router. Currently connected to 11 year old router. Not really interested in wireless only hard wired connections on the 4 outputs.

I had the WRT120N set up and working fine in a very short time but setting up the ...
Purchased an EA3500 NEW to replace a WRT120N that got fried (power surge) being used as a downstream router from another router (to improve wireless signal in a remote area of the house). I had the WRT120N set up and working fine in a very short time but setting up the EA3500 was a nightmare. I had two (2) LONG Chat sessions with LInksys support. In the first, after an hour or so, we were able to get to the setup page and all looked fine, all that was left was to update the firmware, he sent me the link so we mutually ended the Chat. Then it all went South, the EA3500 froze up and I couldn't do anything with it. Got into a second Chat and after several hours and several resets were not even able to get back to the setup page. The support people were pretty good and they tried but even with their help we couldn't get the thing to work. I therefore returned it and will think 2X (or 3X) before buying another Linksys. It should NEVER have been this difficult.

Great buy!!
I don't understand much about routers but I guess I did good because my son said it was far more then he needed to set up a network in his home. The only one in his home that doesn't do gaming is the 8 mo old. It is worth much more than I paid for it. He was concerned that I paid too much. Shhhhh, don't tell him I didn't.

Fast simultaneous dual band gigabit wifi router
All I need is to connect at the maximum speed allowed by the hardware e.g. 802.11n or g, and both bands simultaneously. The closer it reaches the theoretical speed, the higher the points.ProsEasy to configure, its plug and play with one instruction, to run the CD firstI unplugged my old router, plug this in in its place using all the old cablesStreamlined design, it looks like a plastic 6" plateDual band, simultaneouslyGreat reception: 5/5 bars up to 20' away with no line of sight and through dry wallSpeed: 3 antenna on each radio gives LAN transfers typically show at 802.11n > 100Mib/s on 2 Ghz, but 170-250Mib/s on 5Ghz; WAN connects ~>300Mib/s, typical. The theoretical maximum is 450Mib/sI stream multimedia without a hiccupI connected all my devices easilypasses Steve Gibson's suite of security testGigabit LANipv6 automatic switch over: allows options of following less congested paths, thus higher overall speedLow costConsLimited firewall, URL blocking optionsLimited network monitoring optionsDuring installation it asks you to join the Linsksys Smart Wifi over the Internet. You needn't subscribe to this and doing so removes remote access to the router, via the Linksys's website. I feel this is a security concern. I just log into the router locally via its local IP address: 192.168.1.1 rather than the URL supplied to insure all sessions are local. At times you need to refresh the setup screen after making changes as your browser may use the old cached version instead, giving you erroneous reports. This router is basic, but does the most vital job of good connectivity and high level protection but limited options on custom settings, so if your device fail to connect there is far less options for tweaking, but it connected all my devices without hitch. With 802.11n, its 3 stream 5 GHz reception is consistently >2x faster than my old 5 GHz router, and its own 2 GHz.
