Best mag base for the price.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a comparable base for the price. The magnet is strong and the arm lock is sturdy. The compact size fits most cnc machines and other tight places. The precision adjustment knob is very smooth. I can dial to .001 increments easily. The design is ergonomic and the functionality is very reliable. It may seem expensive, but you are getting what you pay for. Excellent quality and and superior reliability.

Rock Solid!
Like many, I have used magnetic base indicator holders in the $25 range for a long time. They work, but are often difficult to set up and get adjusted appropriately. "Fiddly" is the word. Not so the Noga DG61003 with the FA 1400 (fine adjust)! This device cuts the time for set up and proper adjustment enormously. Tightening a single knob quickly locks the entire arm in position. The fine adjust oscillates about plus or minus 0.010" as you turn it in any direction. This means you can put the dial indicator plunger "roughly" in position and then adjust it precisely. I use the Noga on both the lathe and mill. It is so helpful that I plan to buy another one for dedicated use on my mill.

This is the gold standard of indicator bases for a reason
Yep. Noga wins. I’ve tried a few off brand indicator stands and none seem to lock up as rigidly as the Noga while also providing delicate fine-adjust capability. This is the indicator stand I should have bought in the first place.

Would it kill them to include instructions?
This is my first indicator holder and it seems like Noga is always at the top of the list in terms of what people like. It seems sturdy enough. However would it kill them to include some basic instructions? Like what the fine tune dial will and will not do? Different mounting options? I was able to figure it out that I could only mount the dovetail of my DTI from one end after some trial and error. I still don't see how a Starret DI can be held by the lug back. I can hold it by the stem but that seems to limit the reach of the indicator. There was a youtube video about drilling out the lug back and using the mount tightening screw and a few washers but that can't be right at this price I hope.
