Very Comprehensive Book
This is a very useful book, comprehensively tackling all the points necessary to create a detailed portrait of the human figure in wood. The marking out and photographic techniques are applicable to all forms of sculpture. The sculpting is covered by many detailed photographic steps, and not too many words.There is no detail at all on how to carve or the tools to use, so if that is what you are looking for, it would not be an appropriate book to buy.Very inspiring and sufficiently well thought through that any reader will be filled with enough confidence to start. Now where did I put my chisels & gouges..?

Female face & figure in wood
This is a beautiful book, pictures and photos almost on every page. with step by step instructions from taking photos, making drawings, and carving the head/figure shape. The book gives detailed step by step instructions to 5 carvings, 3 faces and 2 torsos. Most sculpture books give pages and pages of endless different equipment, here he just tells you what he used and when he uses it. The book is aimed at both novice and experienced carvers. (I myself felt like picking up a chisel + hammer though not done so since i left school). This is a very good thought out, inspirational detailed book, Ian Norbury is a master craftsman, a MUST BUY!! for anyone wishing to start an interest in wooden sculpting.

Excelent step by step carvong of female body.
Excellent book for sculpting the female body and the head. We see different types of faces depending on the nationality. I recommend this book A few members of our Club also have purchased a copy

I bought this book to use as reference for my Maya and Z Brush reference book, it's very useful for me, some skill used in the book, I can actually apply to Z brush sculpting as well!

Comme toujours les livres de ce sculpteurs sont excellents. Toutefois j'aurais aimé que Amazon précise qu'il s'agit en fait de la réédition de deux livres (que j'avais déjà) regroupés en un seul. En fait pour ma part, double achat, mais satisfaction tout de même tant du produit que de Amazon.
