Best Altitude baking book I own
I have bought three altitude baking book from Amazon since moving to the mountains in Colorado (8,000ft). This is my favorite because it produces exceptional baked goods. Every recipe that I have tried in this book is excellent. I always check this book first to see if it has a recipe that I am looking for before going to the others. That being said, there are two things that I do not like about it.1) It is very hard to find recipes. There is not an index and the sections are not easily labeled. I always have to flip through it to find what I am looking for.2) The different altitudes are not set up for easy use. It gives the main recipe and then the adjustments for each altitude. So for instance if the main recipe calls for 1 tsp of baking powder, at 8,000 ft it will say -1/2 tsp baking powder meaning to lessen that amount. The problem being that at the beginning I would sometimes forget to look at my row to see what change I need to make and simply measure out the original recipe amount. I have become accustom to this but it was annoying at the beginning. The book Pie in The Sky has an excellent layout, easy to find recipes and a table for each elevation. I definitely prefer its ease of use over this one. It also has good recipes but again, this one is fabulous for flavor and overall outcome of the baked goods. Highly recommended.

Not Quite What I Thought It Would Be
First of all, this is a lovely book. My issue is that I wanted recipes for things like sourdough bread, regular sandwich bread but those were not in there. In spite of my middle of the road rating, there are some good tips in this book for sure.

Burnt food fix
I’m visiting family at high altitude for the first time. I was baking supper for them and it didn’t come out the way it was supposed to. I got the cookbook and found my mistakes. I live at sea level and never knew the difference. Thanks to the book I am baking fine now. Thanks

Needed in High Altitude Kitchens
When you move to a high altitude... you need to be a really savvy cook... or you need to purchase this, or a similar book, to help you adjust your recipes. I was not so smart and gave up cake baking for several years. Now I just make the recommended adjustments and they are almost as good as when at sea level. This one is to be a gift to a friend soon moving to 7.000 feet.

High Altitude Baking Fixer!
This book has been a life saver for converting favorite family recipes to high altitude formulations. The recipes the author includes are quite good without the guess work. Find your altitude and follow the chart for your ingredient amounts. The book saved baking in my house!

Don't waste your money
I so rarely write a review but this book is special.the information contained in this book may well be good but due to poor typesetting and book design it is not easily accessible. Also the encyclopedia part is filler and totally not useful. Unless you know nothing about baking at all.And the business in the book about baking parchment drying out whatever you are baking is very weird. Never experienced that at all in my 50+ years of baking. But the subject was addressed quite a few times as a fact. Don't waste your money and perhaps someone will do some editing and revisions.

Confusing collection of information
I did not find this book useful at all. It seems to be a confusing collection of information that I could find myself by Googling it. There are not very many recipes. I tried one and it came out horrible. I live above Salt Lake City, Utah and based the recipe on my altitude. I returned this book, it is useless in my opinion.
