Excellent for self-study - some mistakes
An elementary and thorough introduction to mechanical vibrations Also included is a chapter on Finite Element Method, Vibration Control and a short introduction to Non-linear systems. Excellent for self-study. I worked almost every example with Matlab to get a good feel of the equations, in doing so, I found several results my results did not agree with. I was able to get the results of Laplace using Matlab Symbolic Tools, and also Symbolic Integration. In almost all cases I produced results in graphical form so I could see if the answer is what I expected. All in all, a most excellent endeavor!

Excelent book
It is an excellent complement for exercising when you have strong theoretical fundamentals. This IS NOT a book for having as a reference for theoretical stuff. The mechanical vibration theory is very well explained on other textbooks like Mechanical Vibrations (Dover Books on Engineering) or Vibration Problems In Engineering, 2nd Edition. The difference lays on that the great number of solved exercises allows you to gain a lot of practice and to reinforce your study on the topic.

Equation not showing
I am using this on my Mac version of my Kindle. I have a Kindle, but do not use it in class. The equations do not show up on the computer which makes this very tedious to use the book. I have to google the equation and figure out which form of the equation relates to the section I am reading.

A handy second reference
I found this to be useful as an aid to understanding the topic as well as learning how to set-up and perform the necessary calculations. As with any topic, especially in the sciences, it is not the best singular source of information regarding mechanical vibrations.

Review of Schaum's Outline of Mechanical Vibrations
An excellent, thorough and comprehensive overview of the subject, with clear, detailed and well organized presentation of vibrations theory and problem solving methodologies. A valuable classic reference asset to any graduate student's or practicing engineer's technical library. Highly recommended for all mechanical engineers.

Printing quality is poor. Cannot see what the limits of some definite integrals are, and some other key things which are printed very small, which makes it extremely difficult to use this.
