Best anchor I have ever owned
I have looked at this anchor system for a couple years now. There are several manufacturers with varying prices but I settled on this system because of the lower than average price. I camp a lot and we take our 20' pontoon with us. During summers it's not uncommon to get fast moving thunderstorms and microburst while on the lake. There is also a tremendous about of boat traffic during the day which causes horrible waves that beat the boat against the shore. In the video above is my pontoon during a fast moving thunderstorm. This was the first true test of the system. Previously I had a 50lb dumbell tied to anchor chain and rope. The weight would hold the boat just fine but in a storm or heavy wave situation the boat would drag the anchor slightly. I have had sand anchors, drift anchors, mushroom anchors d homemade anchors. This is byfar the best anchor I have had. At this campsite the water is about 12"deep when you step off land and drops significantly as you go out with a mix of rocks, some sand but mostly fine silt. This area is on a point and the land is erosion protected by rocks and wrapped fencing so you have to make sure the anchor hold you off about 2' or your boat will be destroyed by waves pushing it I to the rocks. You can see in the video that this anchor held strong. I would give 6 stars if it was an option. Folds up for easy storage and is very easy to set up and set the anchor point. It really doesn't matter how you throw off the boat because it will correct itself and dig in quickly. Removing the anchor is easy as well. If you have a pontoon or any kind of boat that's heavy and needs a better anchor system do yourself a favor and buy this system. You will not regret it.

Holds tight but did have to modify it.
Great anchor. Stores away nice and this thing really grabs. Did have to modify the locking pin by cutting it shorter because it couldn't lift high enough to clear and lock. It was definitely because of the way it was welder on there during manufacturing. But after that it worked great. Probably would of been mad if I wasn't a metal worker and didn't have the tools to fix it.

good anchor for the money
This is a much better the the fluke type. Holds the boat better and folds away smaller. Highly recommended

Keeps me anchored.
This anchor works very good in the thousand Island area. Rocky and sandy bottom. I have 6ft. of chain added to the anchor and then the anchor rope. It keeps my 24' pontoon boat anchored.

Works great but you need to know...
It's been a year since purchase and I have used this box anchor with my 19' Key West many times. I live in Charleston SC and most of my boating is near shore or in the rivers near the harbor. The anchor works great and holds the boat in the changing tides with no problems. My only 'knocks' would be with setup and storage. You will want a rubber matt or other protection when setting the spring loaded hook to form the anchor. The folded anchor is also too big for the anchor storage locker on my boat. Small problems to have but worth pointing out just the same. I am happy with my purchase.

This is the only anchor you will ever need...best priced box anchor!!
So I will certainly update this review after I have used the anchor but I am extremely happy with what I see so far. It just arrived 5 minutes ago, I paid $85 shipped which is what it is listed for currently on Amazon. The hardware for mounting the bar to the anchor is the new (nut & bolt) updated version which is very solid. I didn’t have to modify anything. Also the brace that locks it open fits very tightly into the hole with no play so I have great confidence it will stay together when deployed. I weighed it on my house scale and it is 21lbs, not 19lbs..I thought that was a good thing, a little extra weight never hurts with an anchor. I can’t believe how much cheaper it is vs the other brand, I have the other brands shore anchor and I love it, they are good brand..but Extreme Max is SO much better priced for the same stuff!! Also, since it folds flat it’s even easier to stow under my bow seat than my old 20lb mushroom anchor (see pics). **edit after 3 boat days** This thing is a game changer! It sets so easy compared to my old anchor. We’ve used it at a sand bar where it’s about 2-3’ of water where we usually anchor and literally 10’ or so of anchor line off the bow is all I need out and it sets like a rock! The last 2 days out it was very busy and very windy..we never dragged anchor once while watching all of the danforth & mushroom anchors struggle to stay put. So far still highly recommended! I will keep updated about how it holds up over time. **edit after owning for 9 months - 6/14/2021** Zero corrosion on any of the hardware, the anchor itself is galvanized so obviously it won’t corrode...still as good as when purchased. Still highly recommended. 👍

Best Anchor I have used
I have only had it a few weeks but I will say this is the best anchor I have used. I first used it on just my 25 foot Tritoon in a 15-20mph wind in 30 foot of water mud bottom. It didn't move. I noticed I may need just a little more line as only the back forks had mud on them. The next day we were in a 12-15mph wind with other boats driving by close. This time we had two tritoons and it didn't move. I put a little more rope out but nothing like what I had to do with my old Danforth anchor I am talking just 10 feet or so after it hit bottom. We were moved back and forth a few times by big waves that sometimes the Danforth would have possibly come loose but the box anchor held. It fits under my front seat without folding it up. Update; we had three tritoons and 10mph winds and lots of waves no movement.

Great product. Used it for the very first time this weekend at White Sands beach in Osoyoos, BC. The beach can get quite busy and the anchor held our Super Air Nautique 210 with ease. We purchased this anchor after seeing it firmly hold our friends 23 foot Tige. Setting the anchor is a breeze ... Just throw it in and it does the rest for you. Build quality is very good as well. The best anchor we have ever owned.

Works great. Holds my Mastercraft X2 easily. Easy to pull up and works well with any lake/river bottom

This is a smokin deal (as much as any $100+ anchor can be a deal). Honestly it is very well constructed and finshed. Holds like a rude pitbull with a Maltese in its maw. I’ve tried navy anchors and danforths etc. none set with a fraction of the ease and none could hold in a medium breeze. Our lake is fluffy mud, weeds or both. This box anchor sets immediately and holds no problem.

Has worked flawlessly. Very pleased

Excellent product for the price. Haven't used yet, but should perform as any of the other box anchors. Typical good quality and value that Extreme Max products provide..
