DIY Hydroponic Gardens: How to Design and Build an Inexpensive System for Growing Plants in Water - Kindle edition by Baras, Tyler. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading DIY Hydroponic Gardens: How to Design and Build an Inexpensive System for Growing Plants in Water. Review: Excellent Book! Highly Recommend - This is a great book for anyone interested in hydroponics - beginners to advanced. It's an especially good book for those looking to build their own systems and grow their own food. The book provides step by step building instructions for several different types of hydroponic systems. Along with the instructions are plenty of helpful pictures. It also covers the basics of the nutrients you can use for such systems as well as relevant crop information. I've been a hydroponics enthusiast and small scale hydroponics gardener for the past decade or so and have read many books on the topic. To me, this book is a must have and arguably the best of it's kind - design, build, grow! I bought this book last winter and experimented with some systems right away. Got to enjoy fresh veggies all summer and most of the fall. I had great success with tomatoes, basil, kale, green peppers, and mint! Review: Complete DIY Guide to Hydroponics - I had just gotten into hydroponics, completed my first NFT system, and got a bunch of supplies to start seedlings, then got sick and put on quarantine for corona-virus (but was negative). Anyhow, during the 2 week long solitary confinement I purchased and read this book. It had a well written introduction to hydroponics, which was somewhat of a review for me (self designated intermediate hydroponic gardener), but filled some gaps left open from my internet education. The bulk of the book was on the basics of the main types of hydroponics systems with instructions on how to build each system. The instructions came with supplies and detailed steps adequate to build directly from. The last several sections turned out to be an incredibly useful reference which reminded me why good books are much easier to use than searching on the internet. It had sections on each type of plant commonly grown with hydroponics (at least in the author's experience). No weed section. :-) It also had hints on how go germinate seeds and much more. Highly recommended book. My bible for hydroponics. Thank you Tyler!

Excellent beginner's book
Shows simple, practical examples of all the popular hydroponic systems. Text is concise and thorough. Material lists are complete but there could have been fewer photographs and more diagrams to clear up construction details. For some reason the text is printed in grey ink rather than black which is hard on my old eyes. Highly recommended.

Lots of information clearly provided
I bought this book after borrowing a copy from the library. It clearly illustrates several approaches, from basic ones to complex, providing clear and detailed instructions and troubleshooting advice. It is the best book on hydroponics I found so far.

Helluva book!
This is honestly a great book for both beginners and advanced hydroponics users. The author covers literally everything about system design, possible problems, building from the start of a project to the end, a plethora of topics regarding the plants and problems you may encounter with them, and so much more. I'm a novice in hydroponics gardens myself but the subject range as well as material covered is well beyond what I hoped for. The author even goes as far as listing the chemical composition and interactions of the various nutrient solutions used within his systems. The drawings, diagrams, and instructional pictures are simple and well put together for even the most basic of pupil to hydroponics. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with even the most basic knowledge of hydroponics as well as those who are advanced and looking to expand their skill set.

... I can say is IT'S ABOUT TIME a book like this came out
Just got this book and all I can say is IT'S ABOUT TIME a book like this came out! I got this book for a couple of new farmers who are starting a business on my property this year. This is the perfect book for them. It covers the most important & critical information without going into too much detail, which would easily triple the size of the book and make the most important information get lost. Full of photos, step by step instructions and clear and searchable table of contents, this is a reference guide I am happy to have on our little farm. Thanks Farmer Tyler for putting out the book I've been waiting for.

It's a lot of good info.
This is not a do all know all guide. There is some very good info, yet concepts are just barely touched. It's pointed me to what to research further. There are how to guides for more than one variety of hydroponic system. As a beginner it was a good read, but there is much more to learn outside of this guide.

Finally. A usable book on Hydroponics
This is the 3rd hydroponics book that I've bought. The first was billed as a "complete guide". It was a general overview with very little detail and no more information than could be found in a 10 minute internet search. The 2nd was a very poor English translation of 3 separate booklets by the same author on the subject. When you could actually figure out what it was saying the information was vague and not helpful. This book is a ray of sunshine. It has plenty of detail, illustrations and complete explanations. It is well written and through. One could actually build a system based on the information contained in its pages. Well done. If you are just starting out buy this book first.

Muy buena información

I really enjoyed this book. It provides the right balance of introductory advice and practical guidance. The only improvement would be to include schematics of the systems. The practical growing advice at the back of the book is particularly useful as it is clearly based on real life experience. Overall, a really generous book.

I have been playing around with two types of hydroponics but I wanted to know about other types of systems as I advance in my knowledge of my new hobby. So far I have been to a wgreat number of websites and received fragmented and repetitieve information. This was a comprehensive introductory source. The writer is authoritative in his knowledge but he makes everything very simple and clear, and he uses a lot of photos to great advantage. It's a fast, easy read yet loaded with information. The book not only helps you to design and build a system but also helps you decide upon which type of system will best meet your particular needs. It also provides information about which specific varieties of plants do best in these systems. I hesitated buying this book because it seemed expensive for a softback, but the money I will save in not making mistakes and by being able to create my own systems for very little money makes it well worth the price. Very highly recommended!
