Clearing The Dark

After reading the first book in the set of four, I bought the second In the set. Good condition. Also came one promised.

I have quickly become a fan of this author. I really hope this series continues, so i will keep a lookout.

This book is based on a lady detective and her brother. Gripping murder novel, graphic in places. Hania Allen is a great author and will read future books by her. Main characters follow on from previous book but dint necessarily need to have read it to enjoy this book.

I have recently switched from the sci fi genre to the crimes genre, and am becoming addicted. 'Clearing The Dark' keeps one guessing to the very end as to who the murderers are and is infused with some gritty scenes. It would make for a great TV series within the picturesque Scottish landscape.

DI Gorska is a great character, Allen's depiction of Dundee and surroundings and indeed Scotland all terrific. I enjoyed the Polish colour and history.Most of all though this is a step change from the The Polish Detective (the first book in the series) being richer and more convincing on every level. PD was a good opener but the characters, dialogue, plotting and structure are all much more robust (at least for me) this time around. Many of the central characters are very appealing, which helps.Some barnstorming action towards the end.I really enjoyed it in the round and very much look forward to more.

Looking forward to the next book as I have really enjoyed reading these stories. Great reading and kept me in suspense
