Finally a no-nonsense drill!
I always thought of Makita as the stand-by drill for any in the construction and wood-working industry! I purchased one of my own about 23 years ago... it was a battery powered model similar to the ones I used in the cabinet shops where I worked. I inadvertently left it on the ground by the corner of our house here in San Diego. When I returned it had suddenly disappeared. Of course I knew exactly where it went but if I did not catch the thief red-handed- who is to say? This neighbor was recently out of jail and he even commented how good I looked walking around in my short-shorts!Never the less I was hooked on Makita so I bought this supposed "variable speed" hammer drill. I hated it almost the moment I got it! How could I be so stupid? Yet I lived with this drill for close to 20 years until the trigger switch literally shot it's wad! Meaning that it popped off... came totally undone so that the only way I could get it to work at all was to carefully wrap a zip-tie and shimmy it up carefully every time that I used it. But as they say "Just let the dead dog lay!" Finally I let go! This beast still lay upon my garage floor gathering dust.Yes this drill is heavy! Yes I am getting older and my hands may be painful reminders of all that I have put them through in my woodworking and gardening adventures. But this is a sturdy weapon with which any person willing may attack even the most heavy duty tasks! (Though I would advise against breaking concrete on it!)The chuck requires a "key" to tighten against your drills... but I find this most acceptable especially because I da naught ken there is a need for it otherwise! My old Makita, rest her soul, could lock her chuck by hand alone but this be poor compensation for all other frustration!A genuine variable speed! This tool is well equipped! There never need be another screw stripped upon entry! Fine wood workers know how to handle wood oft better than they know how to make love to their mate! Again... it is a heavy tool but it will serve you well! My lady Makita just had more adrenaline than I could control! Yet I am sure that in the hands of another woman she would be "he" and thus "her" worst nightmare! (Amazing how gentrification rules our lives! ie. sailing vessels are still "her" and often tools of the trade become objects that we feign to control and thus we treat them and approach them as the opposite sex!)What man going to battle in the earlier times... say in Skottland or Ireland where my folk worked the land only to come here and continue to work THIS land!... When going to battle the blade of sword was as precious as the mate left behind! Therefor in the last breath there was comfort with sword in hand! Thus all you manly men out there! You will find this a capable weapon with which you will attack most any job at hand! And for even more capable women (more than many men can imagine) all you need is to develop a few more muscles and a strong grip! She/he will be yer own for the greater time!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I bought this drill to install the pipe clamps for my pipe water filtration system for my koi pond in the back yard, where i needed to drills holes into the brick wall. This drill is very powerful and was able to drill holes for the pipe's clamps very quickly.

Make sure you us the strap to secure the chuck in place on the cord so you won't loose it..
I bought this for a project i had to do.I needed a drill thst was fast to drill at times and drill slow at time.this drill is the drill for that job..it has a small dial wheel on the trigger to set the speed.best thing ever..the hea d of the drill will grip on any style drill bit..This also comes with a deep setting device you can set to drill at a certain distance up to 8 inches..this works great if your using the drill to drill a hole for a dial pin..i like this drill its very light weight..My wife can even use this drill it so light and easy to use..Im glad I found this drill works great for a sorta of my hobbies..

Good value in an effective hammer drill
I bought the Meterk corded hammer drill because I was about to build a series of dog kennels and needed to be able to drill clean holes in cinder block and a concrete slab, holes that would hold concrete screws attaching hardware. But my budget would not allow a battery powered drill (which has been my preference in most tools because power is not always available to me. But this time I knew I'd be working hear electrical outlets). I am glad to say that this drill bored quick, clean holes with minimal fuss. Every screw held. This is SO much better than trying to tough it out with a masonry bit in a regular drill. My only complaint is that the depth gauge bar has no meaningful measurement of depth - but since bits are various lengths effecting that would be complicated.

Excellent product
Excellent product, for that money, is the best you can get, clearly you can not expect a heavy duty tool paying what you pay, but after all this is a well-made thing, heavy and beautiful, very satisfied.Metall inside.Bought this drill to do some concrete block tap cons. It worked great for the project and will look forward to the next one, it is well built and I like the hand chuck.

Better than the description
Great drill, they nailed all the features that I was looking for.I had a nice cordless that I use for most things. I was looking for a high power hammer-capable drill with a bigger chuck for certain jobs (like drilling concrete) that don't work with my trusty cordless. I had some questions about this drill, but they were fortunately answered positively.+ trigger-variable speed: yes, the more you pull the faster it goes.+ can do "regular" or hammer drilling: yes, flip the switch.+ reversible: yes, flip the switch.+ second handle removeable: yes, twist the handle to loosen and remove.+ depth gauge removeable: yes. And it stays out of the way when you're not using it. This was a surprising feature that I didn't know I needed - it helps me keep the drill straight and level.+ a place to keep the key: yes, there's a holder for the key that seems to work well.+ 120 VAC with a long cord: yes,Two minuses:- the key to the chuck is attached to the drill, in a dodgy holder. I immediately moved it to the end of the cord nearest the plug and attached it permanently with an electrical tape wrap. This forces me to unplug the drill before I use the key, I like to keep my fingers.- the manual is useless, throw it out before it makes you angry.
