Quick background is that I have a Pixel 3 so this is the only phone I've tried this on. I needed a charge+headphone adapter because I don't want to go the bluetooth headphone route yet. I saw this unit with its slim design, good reviews and advertised good audio quality so I went for it.The main issue is that you MUST connect everything in the right sequence for the unit to work as it's supposed to, but if you don't connect things in the proper order, then there is some odd behavior. In the box there is a little instruction sheet and it actually has a specific sequence numbered as 1-connect headphones to this adapter, 2-connect the charger to the adapter, then 3-connect the adapter to the phone. In this specific sequence, no problems (I haven't connected any "good" headphones so I can't attest to the actual audio quality). However, I don't think you should have any limitation on the order of these events. I tried several combinations and this is what happened:Connect the adapter to the phone and charger only: This will charge the phone but the phone audio through the speakers doesn't work. I guess it triggers the phone jack to falsely think there are headphones connected so the audio is only going through the adapter. If you plug the headphones in after that, the audio will work fine but I oddly found that the Google assistant was triggered.Connect adapter and headphones first: This configuration will allow the headphones to work properly, but then when I connected the charger next, my phone would not charge.I have since bought another adapter, one of the better reviewed "regular" square-shaped ones (ASIN B07JC13KF6), and none of these issues are present. I can connect charger and headphones willy nilly in any sequence and everything works as it should, including allowing the standard phone speakers to work while being charged. Hopefully I can return this one since it has not performed as-advertised and the fact that they included an instruction sheet makes me believe this is a functional limitation...unless others have tried the same sequences with different results.

Great replacement for stock dongle
Awesome little package with this dongle. Only moderately bigger than the usbc to 35mm dongle that came with my phone. The usb-c connector could be better. It is a little loose in my phone and results in some static as it wobbles slightly. It also gets pretty hot while charging through it. My phone does say it is quick charging with the right wall adapter.

Finally gets back at Google for taking away the headphone jacks!
As stated in others' reviews, you do sometimes have to switch the order in which you plug in the headphones and the charging cord. That being said, it's a small inconvenience compared to the blissfulness of being able to finally charge my phone and listen to music at the same time like in the good old days! I've been using it for about a month now and it has held up well. Worth the purchase!

Works for a time.
It worked for a week or so, but today I bumped it while typing and the headphones stopped working. I unplugged and replugged and it worked again. But then I picked up the phone to text someone and the headphones stopped working again. The device and the cable to the phone were really hot, so maybe it's overheating? Or a loose wire? But yeah, it didn't last long. Maybe if you don't use your phone while you are charging and using the headphones?

Works as advertised
The sound quality is as good as another similar product I bought which does not allow simultaneous charging. I have expensive headphones and earbuds and hi res music. It does "charge rapidly" when attached to a Power Delivery charger. Also rapidly charges as indicated by the phone screen with an Anker external battery pack. This is a good product for the age of USB c with no headphone jacks but good chargers and charger battery packs and good wired headphones. Bluetooth ones are still not that hi fi when the recording is hi res as far as I'm concerned. This upscales harsh low res digital music well, also. In apps that show actual output kHZ like the Onkyo player, the input is like the output, ie 192 kHZ FLACS come out that way, while Google's own Pixel adaptor drops it to 44 khz. DSF files come out at 192 khz with this. The size, cost and convenience are pretty amazing.

Does NOT allow charging and listening to music at the same time.
My third attempt at finding a charger that will allow me to listen to music on my wired head phones AND charge at the same time. Despite many reviews saying this is possible (and many others, like mine, saying it is not), it just doesn't do both simultaneously. It charges fine. I can listen to my 3.5mm wired head phones fine. But when I try to do both at the same time, the music comes out of the phone, on speaker, instead of my head phones. This is on my one plus 6T.Amazing that I cannot find a charger that will allow me to do both, at the same time.

High resolution DAC, For a song!
It's remarkable for a product this simple and small to read such beautiful sound. One end has a USB C in the center a true DAC with type C for charging. The sound is accurate, clean and detailed. When the descriptions said for just certain devices, I was bummed that it didn't list my Pixel XL first generation. However I have a Google Chrome book, which is listed, and the DAC really improved the overall output and opened the sound stage. It's designed small footprint is a good addition to on the Go application. I love the way the music comes to life with the headphones. I hear things I didn't hear before from my streaming content. It also does work for me on my Pixel XL! For $20 and it perfoms this well, I will be getting a few more. I'm in love with the whole concept. Terrific product!!

Many better products out there
The connection sequence for this device is pretty convoluted. When I had it connected to my Pixel 2XL, my music would keep pausing like it was losing the connection. The phone would also show that it was plugged in, but the battery never actually charged. It was like it was just preventing it from draining, even though I had it connected through a 35w quick charger.
