My Yard Butler
I had gotten a garden seat for a gift, but could not get up from it without assistance. I brought it back and opted for the Yard Butler. Once opened you have a foam cushioned seat with handles or flip it over and you have a foam kneeler with support.I don't have the oomph in my knees for getting up and down. One knee is bone on bone arthritis and the other knee had arthroscopic surgery 11 months ago. I do have strength in my arms to get up and down if there is something to hold onto. This was the solution for not only gardening outdoors, but also inside the home for getting down to clean out the lower kitchen cabinets or tight spots in the bathrooms. I can't kneel on tile floors without a lot of knee pain and discomfort and I cannot get up from the floor without crawling across the room to find a chair to pull myself up on. The Yard Butler solves that problem for me. It is light weight to carry, sturdy steel frame for support and pushing myself up from a kneeling position. A great gift for elderly or someone with arthritic knee joints. There are no directions on how to fold it back up for storage...and there is a trick to doing it by squeezing the handles area to release the holding pins. Once you can figure it out, it isn't hard to open and close. Forcing closure would pop the welds. That was the only shortcoming with the unit. The box illustrations could be modified to show you how to close it or a paper inserted into the box to illustrate the procedure. If it were not for that one thing, I would have given it a 5 star rating.

Need help getting up when kneeling? This is the thing!
The arthritis in my feet and knees has advanced enough in the past few years that I find it difficult to get up if I have to kneel down for something. Additionally, I have a bad meniscus in my right knee that often makes it painful to put my entire weight on that leg to push myself up to a standing position unassisted.I was putting my garden last month and was excited to find this Garden Kneeler and Seat here on Amazon. Turn it one way and it is a small elevated seat. Turn it the other and it is a low kneeler. The benefit of this kneeler over those ones that are just a free-standing foam pad is that this kneeler has sturdy steel "arms" that you can use to push yourself up from a kneeling to a standing position. You could easily use it in the house as well, for when you drop something and need to get down to pick it up. I found it to be stable--not wobbly at all--when I was pushing myself up from the kneeler. The kneeler comes folded up and you just have to pull the legs out to open it. This took a LITTLE doing but not bad. I actually keep mine in the out position all the time now instead of folding it and unfolding it all the time. My kneeler (in the seat position) sits just inside my garage door with my garden bucket and supplies on it, so I can quickly grab them and head out to the garden. When my kneeler first arrived, I found the material used to make the seat/kneeler part of the device to be odd. It feels like a dense version of the foam you use to make flower arrangements. As such, it does not give much when you kneel on it, but there is some give. I sat on the seat when I was out in the garden last week. Since it is so narrow, it would not be comfortable for me to sit on it for an extended time (as my behind is not narrow) but it certainly was comfortable enough for me to accomplish the task at hand.My concern about this foam-type substance used in the seat is that it may be difficult to clean if it became stained. That remains to be seen. Please note that this seat/kneeler is never to be used as a stepstool and that the weight limit is 250 pounds. The kneeler itself weights 8.5 pounds.Definitely recommended.

Broken pad support. One bad weakness
Love this tool, saves my knees from gravel and concrete, easy to carry, flip over for a seat to work or rest. However the truss style support for the pads broke off at the corner while kneeling. The rest of the mechanism seems up to the job. I am going to replace the part with plywood which is easy for me, but a bummer for those with no tools or skill to do this.

The Yard Butler is the only butler I'll ever need!
I spend a lot of time gardening in the spring summer and fall. There's always so much work to do!I'm so grateful for the yard butler, it really does save my knees! When it's so hot outside that you can't be in long pants, you're going to want something protecting the skin on your knees from the rocks, dirt clumps, sticks, and whatever else may be in the ground. This super lightweight kneeler is essential for any gardener! Easy to move from row to row in the garden and really does save your knees from the pain! I'll also catch myself using it as a bench whenever I'm taking a brief break, and that makes it even more useful in my opinion!

Sturdy, Comfortable, Folds away nicely
This chair arrived a bit smaller than I expected, but lived up to the reviews. The foam seat is not cheap, squishy foam that, after 10 mins of sitting is so compressed it might as well not be there. This foam is thick, comfortable, and retains its density even after extended use. The frame itself is sturdier than you'd think just looking at it. I love the fact that it folds so compactly, great to store without taking up a lot of space. It is a bit tricky to figure out how to fold it once it's open (no instructions come with it, or at least not the one I got), but all you have to do is pull the skinny bars in the frame outward and it starts to close gently inward (LOVE that it did not pinch my fingers at all). I highly recommend this for anyone who needs a good seat for gardening, cleaning floors, or similar activities that would normally put strain on your knees and back. Great seat, worth every penny!

Improves Comfort Nicely
Does exactly what it should, makes gardening more comfortable. The foam is quite dense and can seem uncomfortable on the knees at first but starts to form-fit nicely after a few moments. The legs acting as handle-bars is a huge help if you've been bent over for an hour as well. Flipped over for sitting it does well fitting between and over other plants and can let you minimize crushing anything around the work area.Only complaint is that the legs should have come with plastic/rubber around the contact points with the ground. If it rests on a stone or patio the coating chips very easily. Just wrap a few turns of electrical tape around the 8 corners and it should be fine
