A great choice in syrup - good flavor
What can I say about this syrup other than it is awesome? Well, I'll try! Amoretti has a distinguished reputation for making some of the highest quality syrups around. This Dark Chocolate tastes true to it's name and is perfect in coffee. I use it to recreate a lot of my coffee drinks at home and love to add it to ice cream. No weird chemical aftertaste, either.I've purchased at least 8 different flavors from them and love the nice bottles the syrups come in and the great pump that's included. Not all flavors are for everyone, but that's the great thing about this company - they usually have different versions that are tweaked to different tastes.

Dark Chocolate Bliss in liquid form
If you read my other review, you see we own a lot of this product line. There's a reason. It really is that good. The dark chocolate has a good strong cocoa flavor without being overly sugary. We had a hot chocolate emergency last night (we get milk delivered to our door in glass bottles and we ran low). so we had to improvise. Swiss Miss is a sure sign of desperation, but when we added some of this syrup, it made the best cup of hot chocolate I've had, ever. No milk, no marshmallows (gasp)...just goodness. Our next acquisition will be one of the cherry flavors, don't know which. I'm thinking that a cup of hot chocolate using this syrup and a dash of the cherry. This might make chocolate covered cherries obsolete. I'm betting that the caloric difference between a box of Cella's chocolate covered cherries and a cup of hot cherry chocolate would be staggering. Yes, a box of Cella's. You didn't think that 3 or 4 pieces were a real serving size, did you?One of the other major selling points with this product is the fact that each flavor comes with its own pump! This is highly useful when you're trying to dial in a recipe with quantifiable measurements.

What does natural flavor supposed to mean?
What is with all the five star reviews. This product does not even contain any chocolate as far as I can tell. Certainly Natural flavors does not explain much. I expected there to be some chocolate since Amoretti prides itself on being natural. When I opened the bottle it smelled like chocolate, but that is far as it went in the chocolate domain. The taste is caramel. It contain mostly sugar and for something that is supposed to be dark chocolate it does not represent the bitterness of dark chocolate. I am not sure what I will do with this syrup other than use it as a sweetener. I am disappointed as far as a chocolate flavoring.I also purchase some Root Beer syrup from Amoretti hoping for some great natural flavors. Well it was better, but the Root Beer flavoring what not of the Root Beer origin. It was flavored with licorice or Anise. I guess it is just too hard to actually use the Native Natural ingredients. I will have to go to the French made syrups that do use Natural real ingredients. I tried some from Monin and Routin and they are real flavors and intensely good.Just because it comes in a fancy bottle with a high price, a nice picture of dark chocolate on the label, and the words Dark Chocolate does not mean it is good or real. I can not imagine anyone giving a syrup five stars that does not have any chocolate what so ever that is basically caramelized sugar. That is not a flavoring it is a sweetener with color. Five stars for marketing.

Maybe Better for Coffee Use
Not very chocolate-y, but also not cloyingly sweet. Perhaps coffee drinkers would have a different take - meaning - perhaps the coffee brings out the chocolate flavor the same way that coffee brings out chocolate in cakes and such.

Sophisticated and sexy
Excellent adult flavor, smooth integration with liquids. Does not have that dental work vibrating over sweet cloying flavor that most other chocolate flavored syrups have, has the most natural ingredients of any syrups I have tested. You want a mocha macchiato coffee that doesn't taste like a cup of cocoa you'd make for your kids then this is the syrup for you. Make your coffee/espresso add a pump of syrup to your cup, add coffee, stir, then add steamed/frothed milk if desired. Instant YUM!

I prefer their other "Crema di Dark Chocolate" over this one...
Check out the other two Amoretti choclate syrup offerings before you buy. I much prefer their other dark-chocolate syrup...Amoretti Premium Crema di Dark Chocolate Syrup (750mL)This particular "Dark Chocolate" (without the "Crema di" in the label) I'm not as big a fan of. To me it smells like dark chocolate, but it tastes more like Caramel. It might be because this one doesn't contain Cocoa, wheras the "Amoretti Crema di Dark Chocolate" does contain Cocoa. (This syrup's ingredients: Sucrose, Dextrose, Fructose, Water, Natural Flavor, Caramel Color.)Also FYI, this syrup is very very thin, which might be a win if you need it to mix more easily into a thin or cold beverage.I'm giving this item five stars because after posting my original review, the company contacted me to educate me about their products and offer to send me a free sample of their other chocolate syrups. Now that is customer service. Amazing. They also have a Milk chocolate variety, which I'm sure is excellent if Milk Chocolate is your goal...Amoretti Premium Milk Chocolate Syrup (750mL)
