Elegant and Razor-Sharp Knife Set for Any Kitchen
These knives exude luxury on my countertop! They’re compact and don’t take up much space, though you’ll need a bit of clearance above to pull the knives in and out of the block. The set’s functionality is impressive, with a versatile range of knives that handle everything from delicate slicing to tough chopping with ease. Each piece is rust-resistant if you stick to handwashing and dry thoroughly with a cloth or paper towel. Lightweight with a comfortable grip, these knives are also extremely sharp—slicing through everything effortlessly (I did nick myself a couple of times while washing in a hurry).

Slim countertop footprint
The slim footprint and quality of the knives impressed me to the extent I bought another set for my RV.

Defines sharp.
What I didn't like....absolutely nothing. Looked like, felt like, cut like superb cutting instruments. Let me give one very important caveat. German steel defines a true cutting edge. These are seriously sharp instruments. Treat them with the respect your mother tried to teach you.

Wow, what a find
I did a lot of research when looking for a good knife set. I compared to Henkels and Wusthof when I was looking for a knife set. Not wanting to spend a small fortune I continued to look at reviews and came upon Schmidt Brothers. They're made in New Jersey, which is nice. I bought the Zebra wood 7 piece set, plus purchased a boning knife a few months later. I'm very happy with this set. Well balanced, stays very sharp with little maintenance. I don't sharpen but hone the edge back to straight every couple months and it'll slice a tomato paper thin with little pressure. Very happy with this brand.

Quality not the same as open stock purchase
The media could not be loaded. I was excited to get these knives after placing the order. I already own the 7 inch santoku knife, 6 inch petite chef knife, and 6 inch utility knife In the bonded ash. I was looking for additional pieces and figured the 15 piece set was a good option and I would only have two duplicate knives. The first item I pulled out of the box was the knife block. It is nice looking, but was disappointed that it was broken on the corner and also had a gouge in the wood behind the acrylic shield on the opposite side. I was also disappointed that the bottom of the base was not solid wood, it is made from compacted foam and metal. I already own a smaller knife block from Schmidt Bros that I purchased separately which has a wood base. When I pulled the box that held the knives in it out, it was bowed on the top. Upon opening the box, one of the knives was not in the protected slot, where it should've been. The weight of these knives in the set are lighter and smaller than the open stock knives that I purchased. You can see it in the handles and feel it when you hold the knives in your hand. I compared the same knife that I owned to the exact same knife that came in the set. I attached pics of the knife comparison and block comparison.Schmidt Brothers seemed to have skimped on quality when it comes to their knife sets. Buy knives individually if you are thinking of purchasing.
