Nice strong 520 chain for your 520 coversion
This the 1st EK chain I have used. In the past I have had the stock 530 chain, and a Vortex 520 chain on my 2006 CBR1000RR track bike. I went to the 520 because it is a track only bike and longevity really isn't as important as light weight. Of course, a chain failure on the track doesn't make for a good day so durability, though 2nd to light weight, is still very important. As a matter of fact, the reason I bought this chain is to replace the Vortex chain that broke at Road America. When that chain broke I was done for the day. The Vortex chain lasted just about 2 trackday seasons. See as I just do trackdays with the bike the number of miles on the chain was likely right around 3000. Though, it is 3000 miles of the hardest use a chain is likely to see. When looking for a 520 chain for use on a liter bike tensile strength is very important and your options are more limited than if you were looking to put it on a 600cc bike. This EK chain is one of the highest rated of the bunch. Only time will tell if that translates to longer service life or not. If I have a failure prematurely I will definitely update this review. There are a few feature of this chain that make it very appealing. First is the tensile rating. As I mentioned earlier it is the highest 520 chain I could find. The second is the lightening holes on the inner links. This obviously reduced weight but also should have little to no affect on strength. If my Vortex chain is any indication it was the outer links that broke. The inner links are likely subjected to less stress. That said, the holes on the inner plates seems to be a good way to reduce weight without sacrificing strength.Second, I believe the dimpled outer plates, which is what makes this a "3D" chain, is supposed to strengthen the outer plates without adding weight. Likely like cold forging that area.Lastly, I like the black and gold combination. Although cosmetics are the lowest importance on a track bike, good looks never hurt.Only time will tell if this chain holds up to the rigors of track use.*** For reference, my bike has been dynoed at 154 RWHP. Strangely, most manufacturers give the tensile strength of the chain and then make a recommendation of maximum cc's. What I find odd about this is the fact that my 2006 liter bike makes roughly 170-175 rated hp, where the new liter bikes make more in the range of 200. I would think it far more helpful to recommend chains on the basis of maximum HP or torque. ***

I like it
Been on for months now. No noticeable stretch after the initial adjustments. Matches color pretty well with my RC-390, which seems to be a important for orange bikes.
