Everything you've heard about this lens is true, everything.
Everything you've heard about this lens is true, everything. The images it's capable of capturing are simply world-class by any standard. When used properly, I can't see how anyone could be disappointed with this lens. I find the auto focus to be very fast and I've never though twice about it while shooting. The bokeh is simply superb. Seriously, look the first cat picture I posted, the grass in the background looks like some green fog; what a dramatic effect! You won't be able to see it, but the picture with the cat facing left is the sharpest picture you could ever hope to take. Every hair is visible and defined and the color and contrast blow away every single lens I've ever used. This lens is, however, a challenge to use. I have to get VERY far away from my subjects to get shots. I LOVE this lens for pet photos! I can get great shots of my cat from very close range. I get my best shots with this lens at shutter speeds of 1/250 and up.I am NOT a good photographer, I'm simply not but this lens makes people think I am! When I show my family and friends pictures I've taken with this lens they're blown away.I cannot recommend this lens highly enough. I have a lot of amazon reviews under my belt but I feel that this lens is the highest quality item I've ever reviewed on Amazon.

You know how good this lens is
If you are reading this, you didn't come here by accident. You know that the lens is wonderfully sharp and creates the most beautiful bokeh on m4/3. All of the good things about this lens has been repeated ad infinitum so will only add what I felt other reviews got wrong. For me, is more versatile than I expected. The focal length is particularly useful for street portraiture, far more so than I expected and far more so than the 45mm. It doesn't represent a limited utility focal length that I expected. The only other aspect of the lens that I have found to be inaccurately reported is that the autofocus, while very good in good light, hunts in low-contrast indoor situations. This is expected, in many regards, but if you are used to speed of the autofocus on the Panasonic 25mm or the Olympus 45mm, you won't get it here. All told, a fantastic lens with the most beautiful rendering I have encountered on m4/3

It’s just a great lens.
I have a Pen-F with a 17mm, 25mm and 45mm, all F1.8s. The 75mm F1.8 was a perfect addition, allowing for less intrusive portraiture, environmental shots with insects and more freedom for street photography. It’s currently my favorite Olympus lens and still has the benefit of fitting in a small unobtrusive camera bags.If your photography style is not limited to specific subjects, and the price point is comfortable, I think you’ll enjoy a new perspective forcing a little more thought in what you photograph.

Great for livestream
We use this lens with a Mevo Core for our church livestream and the picture quality is really great. Switching from a zoom lens, this one does much better in lower light, has much faster focus response and just looks better overall.

expensive and high quality lens
very high quality lens made of metal. however i wish it was made to be weather sealed. i don't think it would've cost Olympus that much money.

There is no better 75mm lens available period, this is the ultimate portrait lens in m4/3
I have had most of the prime lens assortment from Olympus, and this is a shining example of why. The focus is fast to acquire in all lighting situations, not the fastest in my opinion but certainly predictable and without hesitation. The image quality is stunning, i immediately saw a difference in the quality. The build is solid, though not weather proof (bummer). I would have imagined weatherproofing a prime lens to be easier than a zoom, and we sure could use it to match all the new wet weather or dust proof bodies available. The size is also remarkable small, I understand that it is simple physics which determines the size, but Olympus did a wonderful job creating a very unassuming lens with extremely high end performance. The lens is aboutthe size of a soda can with the hood installed and without the hood it was barely (1") deeper than the grip on my EM1 that is so unobtrusive that it could be used in almost any environment and not lose the candid moments with subjects out of self aweness. I highly recomend this lens and though it is a longer FL and not a truly indoor lens for small gatherings, it is a gem and one that puts my zoom lens in the same focal range to absolute shame.UPDATE: there is an issue with LCA when shooting close to the limit of highlights in backlit situations. I am waiting on a UV 2a lens filter to see if this helps the issue, but shooting an outdoor sport last night all my white edges when exposed to the limit but not blown oit exhibited terrible CA.

The highest quality MFT format lens available to the public period.
Olympus optical engineers have designed this premier portrait lens to be extremely sharp with a very flat field at full aperture. This is the highest quality MFT format lens yet to be offered. Pictures taken with this lens can be recognized when compared to those from other lens because of the optical quality. The all metal construction has a gorgeous black finish compatible with the Olympus Pen series. Very expensive lens is justified by its obviously superior optical and mechanical properties.
