Japanese Odachi Sword – Heat Forged Carbon Steel Blade, Leather Wrapped Hardwood Handle, Wooden Scabbard – Expertly Crafted Odachi for Today’s Warrior - 69” Overall

I recently received this item, and it is the best blade I own thus far. The blade is nice and thick; I know some swords give you a picture of the sword sheathed and a close up of the blade, but the blade is actually 2x smaller than the handle. Not this sword, nice full blade. Instead of making a wall and text, I find ProCon lists usefulPros:-Low cost, quality item-Sharp blade-Great scabbard, polished wood with leather part-Has a chain on the scabbard,( not sure if that's for tying to a belt or back loop )-Heavy (possibly a con to some), but that's why there is a 2 foot handle, for -leverage!-Pommel chain (also could be a con to some, gets annoying if you swing it around constantly)-Slides in and out of the sheath very smoothlyCons:What cons? The only things I can think of are the Heavy aspect and the pommel chain. The heavy, if you dislike it, there's really nothing you can do about it, its a big blade, but the pommel chain could easily be removed.

You can't really prepare yourself to hold an Odachi. The enormity thrills you. As for people saying it is heavy, it really is not. It is longer than any other sword I have ever heard of and it weighs just under 3 pounds, while swords two thirds its length can weigh five and a half pounds. The pommel chain came broken off, but I wouldn't have wanted it there anyway, and it now makes a good keychain. The construction is surprisingly sturdy for it being such a cheap sword, but the blade itself is a low quality steel marked 'China' with no real sword characteristics other than it is sharp. The leather cord on the handle is not secure, and slides down each time you swing the sword hard, and the scabbard fell apart after just carrying the sword around for a day. The metal rings in the chain are weak. Don't let me convince you not to get this sword, though. The bad things I just listed are true, but minor. It has more power in the swing than even my claymore (A Scottish Two-Handed Sword) and has cut everything I have wanted in half clean and easy. It does take a lot of technique and good stances to wield effectively, but for any martial artist of just a year or two that is no problem. This sword may not be the best, but it is definitely the best you can get for $50.

The Odachi sword is greatly crafted. when the sword arrived at my house i was very excited and with good cause theis blade is about my height im 6'2" so this thing is massive. its got a lot of weight, but its got to be expected of a sword of its size. when i unsheathed it i saw that the sheath was wrapped in leather just like the handle and made from wood not a metal so every time i unsheath the blade is covered in wood shavings but thats no big deal. the only other problem i had was that the metal pommel was loose on the handle an came off easily with a light tug, so i used some hobby glue and it now it wont come off. overall this sword is a must have for all collector and enthusiast.

This sword is very cool to hold, because at 6'2" this sword is almost as tall as I am. Looking at it sheathed, the wrapping on both the handle and the sheath is a nice touch, making the sheath almost like an extra weapon.Pros:Very LongDouble wrapping (both handle and sheath)InexpensiveCons:Tailpiece was very loose (fixed with some hobby glue, so now no problem)Chain on sheath (very low quality, fell off/broke)Blade (not high quality, several scratches on first look, no hamon)As far as I'm concerned, this is a great collectors item, especially considering the very low price. The cons are mainly aesthetic things that I fixed on my own so not really a problem, but still a con. The lack of a hamon is again more of an aesthetic thing, but would have made the sword that much better. All in all I recommend this sword for a collector, but not for functional use (haven't tried but doesn't seem like a good idea).

Not the best sword ever, but it's good for the price. My bf loved it, she hands over our bed. Definitely good for show and not for actual use.

It's a very nice made (solid), but heavy & sharp. When they sent to me the box was riffed opened partially inside & re-taped, also the chained-tassel was broken into pieces. & the end cap fell out also. It seemed someone had returned the product & they sold it to me. The handle was made out of very light & cheap wood ( balsa wood ?)The balance is to much toward the blade because it's very long. If the handle a little bit more heavier than it would be nicer. You could practice with it, but very slow & need more space. I like its design but not practical at all. I'm an artist also martial art master. I use it as my collection for such a low-priced sword. You may want to spend more money for better ones!Japanese Odachi SwordHope this is helpful!

This sword is definitely not bad for the price. There were a few imperfections I noticed when I received it, but none that I couldn't get over - EXCEPT there was a pretty decent crack in the scabbard which is hard not to see. I might just paint over it not sure. Besides that it seems pretty sturdy especially for its size. It's also sharpened but not very sharp.
