We had a young tree starting to lean from all of the rain/wind storms we've have in Houston over the past year and needed help keeping it straight. Never having anchored a tree before, I was a little unsure how to go about it. After a lot of internet research, I finally decided on this anchoring kit to help sturdy our new tree investment.Last spring I finally took down 'Woodstock's tree" from my front yard. It was pitiful. We gave it years to grow and it just never did finally snapping in two during a heavy rain/wind storm,.In the Spring of 2015 we bought a nice 7 ft. tall Red Maple from a reputable locally owned garden supplier and had them plant it for me. They did a nice job and even re-forced it with a 1/2" diameter bamboo stake and added a little mulch. At planting it already had more leaved than the old 5 year old ash that just never would get healthy.I added another bag of mulch and watered it once a week during the Summer when it didn't rain enough but that's about it. The new tree has flourished with minimal care and it's already a good 3 foot taller than the previous one got in over 5 years. It just started to lean a bit away from the house so we made the small investment in this anchoring kit.The instructions were plain and simple enough for me and, as I already mentioned above, I had never done this. I tied the nylon strap to the tree as instructed making sure to first tie a simple knot about 18" from either end. When tying around the tree I made sure to secure it by tying a new knot that cinched on the outside of the first one. This way as the tree grows and pulls on the strap, it won't cinch tight around it. I then secured the anchor in the ground at roughly a 45 degree angle by inserting a 1" x 12" dowel into the eyelet at the top and twisting clockwise until only a couple of inches below the eyelet remained above ground. I then tied the other end of the strap before securing it to the anchor to match the one on the tree and cinched it tight to the first simple knot leaving a loop at the end of the strap. This was loosened in order to pull the strap tightly and securely into the eyelet on the anchor. I could then cinch it tighter if needed in order straighten the tree.We only needed the one anchor but 3 come with the kit. If you really want to secure your tree you can use them all. If done correctly, your tree won't go anywhere unless it was on purpose or hit directly by a tornado. The straps and anchors are very sturdy and installing them seemed pretty simple for a novice layman like me.

Works great stabilizing our young Amber trees in the strong California Santa Ana wind events.During the last wind event and going on the second day with gusts up to 60-65 mph, we almost lost our new tree. The pole we had to support the tree literally snapped in half and we thought the tree did too. Upon a closer inspection we saw the tree had bent but not broke so we ordered these and with Prime delivery, they arrived the next day.We have had 3 more wind events since installing and the they have supported the tree perfectly! Great product and fairly easy to install, too.

These get high marks for being well-designed and well-built.I needed to secure a young pine tree about 12' tall which was having some problems resisting occasional strong winds. The DeepRoot Arbortie system is very easy to use and it appears that it will give the tree the support it needs. I'll check on it in a week or two to make sure the tree is still happy but the nylon webbing seems to be tree-friendly, it hasn't scuffed or scratched the bark so far. I had no problem installing the screw stakes, using a piece of 3/8" steel bar as a wrench.Simple but effective.

I bought these as a stopgap to stake a barefoot sapling until I could get what I thought I really wanted, which was a larger diameter and taller stake. However, this stake was easy to install, with a smaller diameter and being all metal so I could hammer it into the clay ground. When the other stakes arrived, I decided to stick with this one as it seemed much sturdier.

Overall a good product. I used them to stake an unruly willow tree. My only complaint is that the black paint job on the stakes was absolutely horrendous. Lots of peeled and damaged paint, and plenty of dirt underneath it. It looks like they painted these in a gravel driveway with a brush and then boxed them right up. Fortunately it’ll be buried. My only worry is that they will begin rusting, but they’re thick enough steel that it’ll take years before it becomes an issue. Definitely worth it for the money. Easier than using wood stakes

Had some plastic tree spikes I bought locally that kept pulling out of the ground and breaking. With us having a storm nightly, our freshly planted tree kept getting blown over, so I decided to get these. After I put these in the ground and using the included straps, it hasn't budged since. They're very strong and held up to all the storms we were having.Edit: Now that our tree has rooted itself in the ground, I've moved these to our children's trampoline. We've only had a couple storms blow through so far, and they're holding it down very well. It hasn't budged an inch!

AVOID- This product is garbage and is poorly designed. There is no way to secure the stakes into the ground with the weird spirals they have. They loosen all the soil as they work into the ground and then flop out of the soil because of it.

We live in an extremely windy area and this has been the windiest season for a decade, so we needed something to work and this system has worked very well under fairly extreme conditions. We planted a rather large mesquite tree (we live in the desert) and it is settling in. We'll probably need to keep the system in place for at least two years. Did I mention we live in a very windy place?
