An Amazing Book!
I hesitated buying this book because for me it was a bit pricey. I am so glad I didn't pass it by. I feel changed by its content and genuineability to transcend all preconceived ideas I had.I feel as if I've been through a graduate course in humanity. It is easy to read yet sets you on a journey of travel, science, marine biology, passion for truth and understanding. Get this book! I highly recommend it!

Astonishing History
For many years I have study Jewish history in regards to how the Tabernacles were made and how the garments for the priests were obviously with many questions remaining. Dying material today is quite unnoticed because there are a plethora of colors artificially produced. But think about Joseph’s coat of many colors and producing the priestly garments in a dessert. I would guess the materials were dyed in Egypt which would have been VERY expensive perhaps more valuable than the gold. That’s not even considering the additional dyed material required for the tabernacle of Moses. It really is a fascinating walk through history but also of the magnitude to dye wool. It was not small task!!!

Enjoyable and Informative
I bought this book because I was intrigued by its description in regard to a rare dye. This book has so much more - history, science, smuggling, etc. In addition, as a Christian, I was woefully underinformed when it comes to Jewish religious practices. This book takes one aspect (the prayer shawl) and explains its role in Jewish history and practice. It's truly astonishing to me how much I've enjoyed reading the enormous amount of information "The Rarest Blue" contains.
