These thumb braces look as if they won't do much, they are quite thin fabric and have no metal inserts. However, they really do make a difference and they are quite discreet. I've bought 2 pairs so I can have one on and one in the wash, but that cost me £68 Lots of money.

I get pain in the base of my thumb (in the joint). If I wear the support for a day or so, the pain pretty much goes away. When it begins to return, repeat. Being doing this successfully for a couple of years now. I keep at least one support as a spare. They are washable too. 4 stars rather than 5 cos they are a bit pricey.

If you suffer from pain in your thumb and wrist this item is just what you need I've been using this item for a long time and it gives me great relief

I know the product is a good one from past experience and I can certainly recommend it as it does really help with a painful thumb. But as I say this from past experience, as Amazon do not seem to be able to supply the correct sized item. I tried twice with them, but every time a small was supplied. So, I asked for a refund, which when supplied was only a fraction of what I was expecting. As it was their fault I would have expected a refund in full, but I have had to pay for the poor experience of shopping with them. Since then I have now managed to acquire this item and yes it is a good as I said earlier. Therefore, I would recommend it, but not via Amazon as their quality leaves a bit to be desired.

VERY LITTLE SUPPORT.

It's expensive. I'm a guitarist with thumb joint osteoarthritis - caused partly by the wrong Statins (grrr). However, the discomfort is caused by swelling (hence the Statins damage), so compress the joint & the discomfort is minimised or even reduced: I'm finding that latter. So, I use this while playing. The thumb creates light pressure on the back of the guitar neck - flexing the joint: annoying.By itself, I suspect this would not be useful to me otherwise. The inflammation within the joint area quickly spreads through the soft tissues of the hand and thumb. A wider compression is required. I use a hand glove type over night - & that is working a treat: given time I might even end up where I was before the Statins.It depends what you want it for!
