If the pistachio is split at all it works.
Spares wear and tear on your fingers and finger nails. Find that this tool does work. If I had had a chance to try this out before purchase I likely would not have bought due that it is expensive for what it is.

Pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. And I can stop ruining my teeth prying shells open.

No more broken finger nails
This opener is so simple and works so well, I don't know how we got along without it for SOOOOO many years. Since we love pistachios, we were constantly splitting nails and injuring the skin under our nails opening the nuts by hand. This opener is genius!Be aware there must be a crack in the shell along the seam for this to work its best because the point is not designed to crack the shell. The point slips into an existing crack and wedges the shell halves apart.Don't be fooled by what might seem like light-weight material; it works GREAT when used properly!Highly recommended - especially if you eat a lot of unshelled pistachios.

Nuts about this opener.
This thing really works! I thought at first it seemed a little pricey. But, it was worth it to me to save a lot of beat up thumb nails and enjoy the pistachios even more. (No fun if they're already shelled.)
