Best harness we’ve tried
We have always been trying to find a good harness for our just turned 4 beagle/lab mix and we finally found one. This harness fits well and she seems comfortable wearing it. It’s not tight at all, doesn’t rub anywhere, doesn’t cover a lot of her body but is padded and not just straps. It is also secure and high quality and she can not get out of it. It has buckles on the front and back but we only use the back and she does not pull as much as with other harnesses. I think because she’s more comfortable and relaxed in this harness. The handle on the back is nicer too. It has more room so it’s easier to access if needed. I got the Baja and it looks really good so I ordered an Aurora as well. It looks good too, but my girl hasn’t tried it on yet.

Great harness, durable, strong and fits well on my dogs
Favorite harness thus far! I've tried a lot of these, and this one is the best thus far. I like that I can hook the dogs on their back or the center front (on chest). If they are pulling a lot, I put it on the chest for more control. It's strong - I have an 80 pound dog that I can redirect with this harness. The others are smaller dogs, and they use it when we travel. It doesn't have a lot of stretchy, but is a good fit and easy to put on/off my dogs.

Well Made. Well Padded, Very Strong, Seems Durable
I was so happy to find this harness for my dog that has a benign growth on the left side of her rib cage. The no-pull training harness she had been using fit directly on top of the growth so I needed to look for one that fit farther back on her side. This harness filled the bill! It was easy to adjust and I was thrilled that it comfortably avoided the growth. It's heavy duty, seems meticulously made and I love the little handle in the rear to assist her when she needs it. I might add that it looked beautiful on her!Unfortunately, when she walked in it there was a little bit of play across her chest along the breast plate. She can be stubborn on our walks, and if she doesn't want to move along, she just won't move and needs to be pulled a little to get her moving. If she's really feeling stubborn, it takes more than a little.I don't mind letting her sniff all she wants, but when crossing a street or trying to make sure she isn't eating something she found, this is a huge issue. When pulling her by the leash clipped on top, by the withers or the handy little handle, it caused a huge gap in the harness in front and the whole harness shifted forward a little, making me fear she'd slip out. So, regretfully I had to return this otherwise fantastic harness. This is by no means a design defect, it's the way my dog is put together. She is very narrow up front across the breast, has a neck appropriately sized for a 65# dog, but a long body, deep chest and long legs. Quite frankly, when looking at her standing, from the front she looks like she will tip over! The harness itself has plenty of room to adjust to fit most dogs, but the narrow breast of mine just didn't work. A smaller size harness may have worked better in the front, but would not have been long enough for her, especially since my concern was to avoid pressure and rubbing on the growth. This dog harness deserves all five stars, so although it didn't work for my dog I still rated it that way.

Well done, Embark, well done.
The Embark Active Dog Harness arrived today, and for the most part, I am pleased with it. Miss Zoey is a 6 month old Standard Poodle weighing about 40 lbs. I ordered the medium size, and with all straps at their tightest, it is just a bit loose on her. She has some growing to do, yet, so this harness should last her awhile. The things I like: lightweight, nice looking on her, latches are easy to operate, good reflective quality on the trim. The straps are easy to adjust, but because of my clumsy fingers and a very wiggly puppy, I had to take it off of her, adjust, put it back on, check it, take it off, adjust, put it back on - repeat, but we did get it to fit. I am not a fan of the grab handle. While I can get all of my hand into it, it does not have a solid feel to it. It seems strong enough, but it just doesn't give me a secure feel. I pulled her up to her tippy toes with it, and it certainly held her, but I just want a fuller hand grip.No harness is impervious to dogs' teeth, and a 6 month old puppy can bend herself in half while standing on her head to get at things. Zoey was able to get her teeth into the front chest plate of the harness and could bend tightly enough to get hold of the tail end of the strap on the side of the harness. Therefore, the harness comes off when we are not on walks or playing with her toys outside. On some reviews, people complained that the D ring on the front opened up and came off when the dog pulled hard on the leash. In the diagram I saw when ordering, it was stated that the D ring was for tags and NOT a fastening point for a leash. There are two fabric links (one inside the other) which hold the D ring, and these fabric loops are the attachment point for a leash. The problem created with this is that most snaps on leashes are too small to encompass the fabric securely. I am going to try a small threaded chain link. This will easily go through the fabric links, fasten securely and should make an easy attachment point for leashes. I have added a link to this item so that readers can see what it looks like. I am not trying to sell anything. We took a walk with the new harness, a short one; who knew that without a game warden in the county that the deer hunters would start banging a way two days early!!! We got home safely and will go into town for our walks for the next two weeks. I will update this review in a couple of weeks and let you know how we are doing.PS. In the last picture, you can see the threaded chain link that I used to fasten the leash to the harness. It is a little thick, so I had to use the heavier leash with a bigger dog clip on it. I used pony tail bands to keep the tail ends of the harness straps our of harms way. #curiouspuppywithrazorsharpteeth
