Perfect Latch for double farm gate
For single farm gates, I prefer a different latch (one that self closes and locks). For double gates, this is very convenient and sturdy. Make sure that you measure your gate piping for the correct sizing of the latch before ordering. I have a very bad dog, for whom we need sturdy enclosures. My farm gates have fence wire on them so that there can be no escape from the rail spacing. However, we need convenient in/egress, and this gate latch allows for that. Moreover, if you are using this gate on other parts of your property that are less visible, you can use a lock with this gate. We had one last gate for which we had a chain. and it was a pain in the patookas to unfasten. For several years we have said, we need to get another latch! We did. We're glad. I was able to get a warehouse deal, and I was happy to get some additional savings...but even at regular price it is a nice value.

Heavy Duty
I'm really torn about this latch. We got it for the front gates of our farm so we could stop fiddling with the chain and lock every time we came and went. I searched high and low for a latch that could span the gap caused my our gates' wheels and came across this. This latch is HEAVY. It feels like solid heavy duty metal and not a single piece feels cheap or pliable. However it does have what I feel is a major flaw. It doesn't have a strong stopping point. When you push on the gate you're able to create a large gap until the curves of the latch catches and stops the gate from opening further. However this does not feel solid to me and the gap you're able to easily create is rather large. My large breed dogs could escape through this easily if they figured it out. We have problems with trespassers and people thinking they can enter our property to pet and feed our livestock despite ample signage and warnings. This latch looks tough, but does not feel tough when you're pushing on the gate. It definitely feels like it will give if you just push a little harder. I like gates with that solid STOP that don't leave doubt in the back of your mind. This gate leaves doubts in my mind so sadly I continue to use the chain and lock any time I'm away. It does LOOK tough though, and I've seen neighbors stop their cars to look at it. In tandem with the chain and lock it does create a strong image of security. By itself though I just don't trust it to deter trespassers or animals. Our front gate now resembles Fort Knox, but that's okay. Rather be safe than have a quaint front drive.

Nice and secure
Easy to install, easy to use. Keeps the wind from blowing the gates around much better than previous latches. I tried 1 for a few months then ordered 2 more for the rest of my gates. We did end up grinding part of it so we could open the gate both directions, the actual gate was less than a 1/4" too close. Highly recommend but make sure your gates are far enough apart to allow for the latch.

Really nig
This is a really heavy duty latch. It was too big for what I intended to use it for, but I used it for my garden gate instead.
