Lots of Fun
Our 2 year old grandson is obsessed with tractors and trucks. He has many. This one has taken over a top spot in his heart. There are several reasons for this. First of all it has a farmer and animals that can come out. When a child has an imagination he likes to be able to put people and things into vehicles, something most manufactures forget. So while he dozens of wonderful trucks and tractors, most of them do not accommodate characters. This one does. it will hold not only these characters but his Duplo people and many others. He also enjoys the sounds the animals make when you push them down, and likes matching the animals to the pictures when he puts them in to go for a ride, but he does not feel restricted by those sounds. In addition to being fun, this product is also durable. He likes to have is vehicles crash into his block towers, ride off of cliffs, and do stunts. This one holds up great. It is also easy to clean. He spread out a field of play dough "mud" for it to travel in and that cleaned off easily. I would buy this again as a gift and highly recommend it to others.

2 Years Later - STILL LOVE the Animal Sounds Hayride!
This John Deere Animal Sounds Hayride is so adorable! I purchased it for my daughter when she was two, and she just turned 4 and STILL plays with it a lot! Both she and her older brother have enjoyed it. I have never changed the batteries and it works as good as new. I personally love the little animals and the farmer that it comes with, the cow is especially cute, but the most awesome part about this toy is that the little slots for the driver and passengers fit so many different figures! My daughter loves to take her Little People Disney princesses, Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom Elves & Fairies, Peppa Pig figures, etc for a hayride! I’m currently in the process of getting rid of at least 50% of the toys in our household and this is one I plan on keeping because it has staying power, can be used creatively with lots of other little toys and the sounds and music are actually cute and not annoying like some toys! A definite win and I would purchase it again for sure!

So much fun!
While I originally thought this would be a fun toy for my 11 month old, it turns out my 2.5 year old loves it even more! The pieces are a great size for my 11 month old to hold onto and stick in his mouth (we love the Little People sets); and he even pushes the tractor around. The plus side for him is that the wagons stay attached, so he isn't battling with his inability to string together the convoy of tractor and trailers while playing. For my 2.5 year old, he loves matching the animals to their proper seats - which make the corresponding animal sound - and the farmer position has a nice tune that plays when you push on his seat. We have far too many toys that are LOUD, and while that doesn't bother me so much since I expect that with children's toys, this is a nice quieter toy that doesn't leave you rolling your eyes every time you hear it. On the downside, there is not a volume switch, so you are not able to turn the sound up, which can be a bit hard to hear over other background noises like the tv or other children playing. But both of my boys have loved this toy and I'm pleased with the purchase!

Pretty toy but not quite up to par....
Our great-grandson opened the package and played with it yesterday. He has excellent hearing but had to lay his head close to hear the song and/or the animal noises. I put new batteries in it but it did not help with the sound. Even when it is absolutely quiet, the sound is barely audible. My mistake, I guess, I thought the song and noises would be loud enough to attract and keep a little fellow's attention while teaching which sounds go with which animal. Anyway, he played with it a while and after putting his head on the floor to hear the sounds, he went on to older toys that had belonged to his grandmother and great uncle that I had kept and were from many years ago. Those toys still produce excellent sounds and still work. The John Deere toy seems to be well made. Haven't had it long enough to know. In fact, if he doesn't play with it any more than he did yesterday, it will last a very long time. I do not mean to find fault, it has been a long time since I bought toys and just expected more.

I was looking for something I thought she'd like. When it arrived
I was looking for something for my 6 yr old granddaughter who has autism and is developmentally delayed in some ways. In other ways, she's ahead of the game, that's how it is with autism. I wasn't looking at the age range of the toy, I was looking for something I thought she'd like. When it arrived, it was a baby toy, age 18 months +, but she loves it. She calls it "Whumppas yawnmower" ...something she loves to take a ride on and I guess the farmer driver put her in mind of her Whumppa. So it was a hit with her...She has recently learned the Old McDonald song so the little tune it plays is fun for her. And she has also recently started imitating animal sounds so this was a perfect little gift for her 6th birthday.

Great toy for teaching children about animals and sounds
Our daughter received this as a gift when she was just over 1, and I loved it so much I bought it as a gift for my 1 year old nephew. Pressing on the farmer's seat plays music, pressing on the animal's seat makes the animal sound, and also has a picture of the animal that goes there. This is great for teaching children what sounds the animals make, how to match the picture to the object, and also works hand eye coordination and fine motor skills as they place each animal (and the farmer) in their correct spot. And of course, once everyone is loaded the tractor can be pushed around! I remember when my daughter finally grasped the concept of the animals having their own place and watching her figure out where they went and having to put them in their spot and upright so they would stay (and so the other animal in that cart would fit too). Its amazing to watch them learn!
