Fantastic, off the peg Varifocals for people with large heads, and equal sight in each eye
Having paid hundreds of pounds for varifocals at a well known High St optician with the misleading name and not had an entirely good experience with online prescription sellers I was surprised to find while visiting America last year that it is was possible to buy off the peg Varifocals. (which are called multifocals) I bought a few pairs of Foster Grants which although they worked weren't quite the right size for my largish head. As usual I sat on them or lost them and started looking for the same things in the UK - without success apart from here on Amazon. Anyway decided to have a punt on these on have been absolutely delighted with the quality of the plastic lens and general construction which, although not absolutely of the standard of designer frames they are large, (across and length of arm), lightweight, slightly flexible, (arms don't bend backwards but are long and straightish) and seem sturdily built for semi-rimless glasses . I can see better than my last pair of High St varifocals and the lens does not require constant cleaning. My eyes have roughly deteriorated with age at approximately the same rate - first short distance then gradually mid distance (computer and TV). I have also noted a slight improvement over no glasses at driving distances. I have noticed no banding between the segments of the lens and because they are wide and large are great for watching the TV or computer workon a large screen. Also great for shopping and photography. The specs came promptly with a substantial case.In summary these are an absolute steal for people with larger heads who want to see books and TV with better clarity and have an equal amount of short sightedness in each eye. Doubtless many opticians will be upset about the availability of these and issue all sorts of warnings , but for me the proof is in the seeing and they work for me. Obviously is not the answer for many people but at the price its worth a try (I cant speak for returns policy.) I've ordered another three pairs. NB the maker offers a smaller pair of varifocals on a different amazon page.

Impressive for a while.
I bought these glasses following cataract surgery which left all my old prescription glasses no longer useful. I was very impressed on their arrival and they made it possible for me to carry on driving/reading etc. They were well designed, light and comfortable to wear. However after a few weeks I noticed the lenses taking on a yellow tint which has become progressively darker and reducing their effectiveness. Fortunately my revised prescription will arrive within a week or I would be tempted to buy another pair.

Unable to use it
I am unable to use it, because I can't see clear, when I put it on. It is too blunt for me.

Sort of works but distorts alot
If you only look straight ahead and don't move your head around it will do what you need it to do but as soon as you turn your head it would make you dizzy as it distorts the top section. It makes it feel like to room is moving around in a wave (and is blurry to the sides). It'll do if you just want to look at your phone and glance up at the TV.

A fraction of the cost of opticians
I have to look closely at small components, then at a screen and then across the room. The seamless variation with plain glass at the top works wonderfully for me.Not the robust construction of a designer frame but a fraction of the cost.I bought a second pair, one for work and the other for home, to avoid unnecessary handling.Lightweight. Clear & comfortable.

Very nice, but very tight hinges.
The glasses look and feel great. They're very light and fit comfortably. There is a slight sepia tint going on, but that's probably the anti-glare treatment on the lens.I gave it 4 stars because I think they could've done a better job on the hinges. The arms were extremely tight when I opened them. I loosened the screws a bit but they were still tight, so I had to squirt a bit of lithium grease in the hinge to loosen them up.They're still a bit tight, but it's a vast improvement.I do think given a bit of time they'll loosen up.The plastic screw hole of the hinge is very soft so you have to be very very careful not to strip the thread when you tighten them.Without my intervention, I could easily see myself accidentally snapping an arm which is a shame because they really are nice.
