STILL looks good to me after two years. Died before four years of light, home office use. :-(
The chair arrived promptly and in very good condition. I was surprised at how heavy and ruggedly built the components were. All the parts were wrapped in paper, plastic, bubble wrap or a combination. The instructions were I single sheet of plctographs which, after looking them over were quite clear and fairly easy to follow. The only tool needed was a hex key which was included in the hardware package.Assembly took an unhurried 30 minutes or so.I am very pleased with the purchase. The chair is very sturdy, nothing is loose, the pneumatic cylinder is firm, not springy the seat is comfortable and seems to fit well.To those reviewers who had the feeling of being thrown out, did you install the base plate backwards? Clicks from the seat? Are all your screws tight? Same for the arms. I cranked the screws down tight ( and it took more turns than expected ) and I felt no hint of the screws stripping. When installing the base plate I went over the screws twice before moving on to the backrest. When the backrest was done, I checked the baseplate again.Fully assembled, I am more than satisfied. It looks good and feels good. Granted, it's new and may loosen over time. Still nothing difficult to correct.01 Dec. '18It's been nearly two years now and I'm still happy with my purchase. The screws are still tight and the seat cushions are holding up nicely. I've done what I could to protect the fabric from three cats and it still looks good if a bit hairy.I'm unqualified to judge fitness for 24/7 use (give me a break) but for home office / routine use this fits the bill. ( Mine had the welding beads others have mentioned. However, I am not one to routinely flip a chair over to scrutinize the interior of the base. )10 August, 2020Utility of the chair has, unfortunately taken a serious hit; the pneumatic tube has given up the ghost. I have to use the chair at it's lowest position or not at all.

(UPDATED WITH REPAIR INFO!) Broke, warranty not worth paper it's written on
I like this chair. It's comfy. Good for a big, tall fellow. Had just under two years. Then one of the wheel mounts broke off. That's because the star base is very often a cut corner in chairs like this, and the rings are just tack-welded in. In this case, badly. Here's the issue. The gas cylinder in this chair is not the standard size. By extension this means that I cannot simply replace the chair base with one of the many great replacements out there.*SEE REPAIR INFO AT END*The manufacturer jerked me around with trying to get a warranty replacement. Literally only needed the star base. No dice. Five year warranty is clearly meaningless to them.Took it to a welder and there isn't really a way to fix it reliably (nor can the rest be "shored up") I'm going to try to see if there's a replacement baseplate that will fit this; that would allow me to use a regular size cylinder and base. All in all, this is a "heavy duty" chair that broke after 22 months because of cut corners. The OEM made the choice to use non-standard parts that I cannot get elsewhere and now refuses to replace one.Caveat emptor.UPDATED TO ADD: THERE IS A WAY TO FIX THIS THING, if you like it and are willing to shell out a little. The cylinder and base and baseplate are nonstandard, but the *tilt baseplate* CAN BE REPLACED WITH A STANDARD ONE.Having pulled this apart to discard it, I decided to measure this thing. Lo and behold, the nonstandard tilt-control baseplate has a STANDARD HOLE PATTERN. 6" W by 10.2" L, with the backrest holes spaced 2.5" apart. Plenty of replacements with that hole pattern.Replace that with a standard one, and you can then swap in a STANDARD PISTON and a STANDARD WHEEL BASE. I recommend a solid aluminum base, a heavy duty piston, and better casters of your choosing for floor type (or just swap in the stock ones to save some bank).Depending on your weight and height needs this can be a $50, or if you go for extra beefy chairpartsonline stuff like I am now doing, maybe about $130, which is still a fair less than the cost of dumping and replacing this thing, and results in something beefier.
