Used To Chamber Check Loaded Ammo, Not To Verify Brass Dimensions Before Reloading
I should have read the description more thoroughly. This is a cartridge checker. It's used to verify that loaded ammunition will fit into a SAAMI specified chamber. You could also do this by dropping each round of ammo into the chamber of your firearm, albeit not as conveniently. This is not a case gage that can be used to determine the headspacing on a piece of resized brass to ensure that the neck has been pushed back far enough (although it may do that), but it absolutely cannot be used to check to see whether the unloaded brass is between the minimum and maximum trim length prior to reloading it.I love the anodized aluminum. It'll never rust and the surface finish is very hard so it'll resist wear and scratches. I wish my case gages were anodized aluminum. I kept the Lyman cartridge checker as a quick check of loaded ammo, but I had to buy a case gage, because that's really what I needed.

Defective item from the factory
The loaded ammo was faulty from the factory. It's 1/4" too long!!!! So you can not check either factory or reloaded ammowill contact company for a replacement

great shell checker for reloader. Solved my issues.
At first I was like "well that was a waste of money" but it got me thinking about my final stage reloading. I was just use to jamming my shells into the gun for years. Adjusted my final stage on the MEC 9000 and now everything slides in like new factory loads. Who knew - not me obviously. I test from time to time and use this thing to see how long the crimp stays true etc.. Beautiful bit of machining. It's a good size checker but only "for the man you has everything". Standard gear for the reloader in your life makes a nice gift. I'd buy again and may get a 12 gauge one soon.

Tool to Sort Surplus Ammo for Serviceability
I brought this to give me a tool for another level of inspection for serviceability. I am using this gauge to sort a very large quantity of surplus de-linked machine gun ammo I got for cheap plinking. This gauge helps me find flaws in the ammunition which would not be obvious to the naked eye...this quickly tells me if the round will chamber or not.Note the gauge will only show if the ammo is loaded correctly and if it is within factory specs for a properly headspaced gun. It will not check case length. Nor will it show a round that is under sized (over resized).

Great measuring tool to have when reloading
Great measuring tool to have when reloading, let's you know quickly if your round is within length without having to use calipers with every bullet. Certainly not a replacement for calipers when measuring length. Very helpful tool to have. I have one for my 300 win mag.

Essential equipment
If you are going to reload, this is an essential tool. I thought I was getting very consistent results, but using this checker, I found that I had minor deficiencies in several of my rounds. Obviously, even a minor issue can be huge at a longer range, so this is a great first stop in checking all my rounds. I was hesitant about buying from the seller, after having been scammed on Grab-A-Gun, but this was a flawless transaction, and I recommend them highly.

Very tight tolerances
Maybe it's me, maybe it's my reloads, maybe it's my shotguns but this seems to be built to the smallest common denominator or chamber spec size. Most of my reloads go into this checker very tight but chamber perfectly on an 870, mossberg semi auto, and a beretta over under. Not sure I got much benefit out of the purchase.

I thinks it works.
I’m going to make the assumption that it functions like it’s supposed to. I haven’t blown myself up yet, and I would like to think that the purchase of this has helped in my success in maintaining my existence.

Does the job
I'm new to reloading and think this does what it's supposed to do. I tried to neck size and then tested with this tool and the brass wouldn't fit flush. So I did a full length rezise and it then fit the tool and showed it was back to normal size and ready for the rest of the reloading process.

These are a must have
If you reload, these checkers are a must...save you a lot of headache and frustration in the long run. With this tool, you can check your work at many stages of the process and make sure what you make will chamber in your weapon. I have one for every caliber, handgun and rifle.
