They are each 12 inches long. Strong enough that I had to hammer mine in and no damage. Stake is not smooth, it has texture so adheres to ground better. Very pleased with them.

Haven't attempted yet but plan to. See no indication for why they would'nt be.

What is the size of the hook. The distance inside of the curve?

Approximately 3 inches maybe slightly lesser.

Will they fit into the grommets on a tarp?

They fit in my tarps so I would say "YES" they fit tarp grommets.
