Q: Is this the original version? Is the top silver or gold? It is no longer sold in department stores and is out of stock on Hermes website.

This is Eau des Merveilles Elixir. There is also just regular Eau des Merveilles which is not described as Elixir—I don’t like it, it’s completely different. The problem is that they look pretty much exactly the same—same orange bottle, same packaging, same box. I’ve been wearing it since it was introduced about 15 years ago, and I’ve ordered the wrong one twice. The one I like, Eau des Merveilles Elixir has a lid that could better be described more as gold than silver, but it kinda looks like it’s in between. I hope the fact that it’s in short supply doesn’t portend its cancellation!
