This is a great product but, dont by in Amazon cause' it is a non-returnable item
Good afternoon,This is a great item but, the transaction in Amazon it is not convenient (this is a non-returnable item). This item has a rating of 4.75 Stars for me. The transaction rating in AMAZON is 1 Star. This eval is for the transaction in AMAZON for a Briggs & Stratton Q6500 Quiet Power Series Inverter Generator.Upon receiving my generator, I noticed the packing box was in bad shape. Understandable cause' the item is heavy. Upon inspecting the item, I found a crack in the plastic casing which is unsatisfactory for a new $1, 200 product. In the AMAZON product page mentioned to contact Briggs & Stratton if the item was received defective or with damage. I called to the suggested number and after a lengthy and kind of "don't reach me" menu I was referred to a local dealer. There, I talked the "Customer Service Manager" that was very rude and de-respectful for no reason cause' I treated him professionally and without innuendos. I was just looking for help. He said that they were not responsible for the damage in the item cause' Amazon delivered it. I contacted AMAZON and they mentioned that this was an "non-returnable item” (pretty much I was stuck with it as is). My fault cause' I didn’t see the non-returnable note in the item's page. AMAZON offered me a percentage of money return as a remedial. I accepted hopping for the best (Thank you AMAZON!). The item worked well as expected.Recommendations,1) Order this item and/or all delicate and heavy items thru Home Depot, Lowes, Costco, or SAMs Club and ask for an in-store pick-up. If done thru BestBuy, they deliver at home with a chance to accept or reject an item. In that manner, you can avoid a similar hassle and risk like the one I just had.2) If you still want to take the risk with AMAZON...When getting heavy items delivered by them, hold the delivery person for a few minutes so you can inspect it. If damaged, don't accept the item. This is the only way around a non-returnable item.Item Evaluation:Pros,-Good size-It has wheels-Low noise-Enough power (I was able to run my fridge, stove, central HVAC/AC, and water heater, something expected for e 6500 generator).-Compares in all the features to my Honda generator which cost 3 times more. The Honda is not that quiet but, it has an electric starter-I have used B&S products for over 30 years (power washers, mowing machines, mowing tractors, generators) and they are very reliable just like HondaCons,-Doesn't have an electric starter. Although, it starts fast with the hand crank-The time meter it is not direct input but, it is intuitive. You need to read the instructions to figure it out-The carry handle doesn’t work right. It doesn’t stay locked and collapses down while carrying the generatorMy opinion, it is a good purchase for the price and reliability. The problems with the carrying handle is bad and it should be corrected by B&S. I can live with the rest of the cons.

Quiet variable speed design
Unless you research the features of this generator you wouldn't know that this inverter genset's engine rpm speed changes with the electrical load. So this generator is quiet at its full 3600 RPM running speed but even quieter when the load is small because the engine speed is slower. Like your car at idle .So when I was powering my entire house with this for 2 days it would be purring at a low speed when only lights and the heating system was on and would kick up with the microwave or electric range.I think my neighbors constant full Speed 3600rpm generator less than 200' away in their back yard was more annoying than mine right next to my house.

80% as good as a Honda/ 25% the cost
Just got this last week and already had a chance to use it for a couple hours during a short power outage..it is signifantly quieter than a conventional generator but not as quiet as a comparable Honda invertor. I find it relatively hard to start as it takes about 4 to 5 good pulls to get it to kick over. Hope it isn't much harder in cold conditions. And lastly, I normally pump the gas out of generators when I'm done, since the next I use may be days or years. But the tank doesn't have a flat bottom and hard to pump out everything. So I pump out as much as I can and run the rest with stablizer.. Good generator so far though.

Quiet backup power
The media could not be loaded. Took a minute to get it to start. Plug was gapped wrong. Otherwise it’s very quiet. Runs lights, heat, (natural gas heat and water heater) and electronics on 25% or less power. Quiet mode let’s you hold a normal voice conversation standing next to it. Inside the house it’s virtually inaudible. Twist lock provides positive connection to my transfer switch. I bought a service breaker lockout so it’s impossible to injure a line worker by back feeding power. Very pleased with my purchase.

This thing is GREAT
Researched a lot of generators, and this one checks off all my boxes. Compact, solid large wheels, super quiet in low power mode, has 240v capability, and starts on two pulls every time. Use it to charge my Alta MXR when out at the woods or the track. Reliable.

Avoid this generator at all cost. Will fry your electronics if you use low idle.
After owning this for over a year, I finally decided to test this generator power output. It turns out that when your use their "QTP" the voltage drops to 104 volts on both legs when using the twist lock 120/220 and regular outlets. Low voltage = higher amperage which will ruin your electronics, not only that this generator will not produce clean since wave technology when low idle is enabled. I spoke to Briggs n Stratton about this and they stated thats how it's suppose to work. This is really false advertising on their part as this generator never really save fuel without the danger of harming your electronics. I have other generators that will do 120v on low idle. My advice to anyone would be spend you hard earned cash on something else other than this 6500. Per Briggs N Stratton Service rep "QPT is ment to be used when the generator is not being used" then why have the generator on in the first place, why just not turn it off" he then went off about how i'm wasting his time and refused to offer any much other help. My only advice is if you do decide to purchase this, you will need at all times without QTP there for not saving anymore fuel than you would on an open frame generator. 1300 of junk is what this is.
