Don't play this genre of game? Doesn't matter. GET IT.
I haven't really played rogue-likes before. It's not my genre of game. I went into this game having seen some gameplay in trailers and thinking "Oh. That looks really cool." Then I started seeing it raking up award after award and I was like "Ok, now I really have to give this a try."This is hands down one of the best games I've ever played in my life. No contest.Hades is abnsolutely addicting. The artwork is outstanding and emthralling. The voice acting is impeccable with such a small cast. The story is deep and compelling; there's still new dialogue I'm reading/hearing after 200+ hours and I've had my jaw hit the floor from twists or details several times. The music is wonderful and engaging. The action is constant and manic, yet you know exactly what's going on at all times. The main character is likeable! That's big for me. I actually give a care about him, his goals, his connections and his story. And best of all, the idea that once an encounter is done that you have another room ahead is actually where the game pulls you in.Each encounter you clear presents you with loot or power-ups to either help you with your escape or boost your stats for later. But you're presented with multiple pathways to the next encounters with a reveal of what you get in the next room which forces you to think and plan ahead for what you need. It engages you to prioritize and learn as you play, which is how a masterpiece should be.Hades is just that. A masterpiece. If this isn't a genre you've liked or played before, it doesn't matter. This game should be in your library. It's a game that should never, ever get a sequel because on its own, it is filled to the brim with story, charm and action. Stop reading my rambling and get this into your collection immediately. It deserves every single award it has won.Hades is the best game to exist in the last decade, bar none. Get it.

Why didn’t I play it earlier
This is the best roguelite ever made. Period. Dead Cells and Blasphemous were my two favs. Not anymore. The amount of lore you find on each playthrough alone makes this game a cut above the other two.The gameplay is where it really shines. It does take multiple playthroughs and You Will Die because that’s the point of these games in general. But I can’t stress how much fun it actually is and how many options you have for making yourself a completely unstoppable force by the end of your runs. You pick your weapon , it’s variation (if you’ve gotten them yet) then off you go to slowly pickup upgrades with each new chamber. That’s a really quick explanation. Combat is frantic! Enemies spawn everywhere and in waves on most chambers. Controls are tighter than any other game like this. Solid responses because this is a fast paced dungeon crawler style rogue lite and you need to be quick on your feet and with your attacks to survive (until you setup something for slower play like with the sheild or bow, which you don’t necessarily have to be slow with anyways if you have the right boons). Picking boons , there are some better suited for certain weapons or upgrades you’ve acquired but all upgrades have their use just have to get a feel for what play style you want.I love the characters. All the gods, bosses and other npcs have a personality. It helps that all the voice over work was put in with real effort here. You can tell that this game was made with a lot of love which Supergiant is pretty known for. They tell great tales but IMO this is the best gameplay they’ve released too. It’s their best game to date and even though they don’t do sequels I really hope they do for this game. It’s their magnum opus. The story is great and gets better over time. I truly felt immersed with my family of gods and primordial characters.Seriously , play it but don’t expect a one to two turn basis on how the game is played. Give it a few runs. Switch version is still great I play mostly in handheld mode and haven’t had any issues. This is my favorite game on my Switch and I already bought the digital on PS4 just to have it. If you like games like Blasphemous, Dead Cells, even Soulsbornes then give this a chance. It’s a 10/10 experience.

LOve love love
Hades is a fantastic game that well exceeded my expectations. I was utterly engaged in the world from the time I started playing and couldn't put it down. The gameplay is pleasant and smooth, with each run feeling new and thrilling. The fighting system is lively and tough, making every victory feel even sweeter. The art design and audio are equally amazing, resulting in an immersive and visually gorgeous experience. What truly distinguishes Hades is its backstory. The characters are superbly developed and fleshed out, and the dialogue and voice acting are excellent. Every dialogue seems significant and contributes to the larger story, making it a joy to play through. What I like best about Hades is its replayability. The game is meant to be played several times, with each run revealing new plot lines and character interactions. It's the type of game where you can play for hours and still find something new to discover.Overall, I would recommend Hades to anyone who enjoys action games, RPGs, or simply good storyline. It's an incredible masterpiece that deserves every bit of praise it's gotten.
