Superior Audio Capture with Sony ECM-W2BT Wireless Microphone
I recently purchased the Sony ECM-W2BT Wireless Microphone with Bluetooth and have been thoroughly impressed with its performance. As an avid videographer, one of my favorite features is the ability to capture crisp audio from behind the camera. This has been a game-changer for my production quality, allowing me to narrate and comment while filming without compromising sound quality.Comparing it to the Rode Wireless Go, I have found the Sony ECM-W2BT to be superior, especially in terms of audio clarity and range. The microphone's Bluetooth capability ensures a stable and reliable connection, which means I never have to worry about audio dropouts or interference.Additionally, the quick on and off button on the Sony is a welcome improvement over Rode's hold-to-power function. It allows for a much faster and more convenient start-up and shutdown process, which is essential when working in fast-paced environments where every second counts.Overall, the Sony ECM-W2BT has outperformed my expectations and has proven to be a better fit for my recording needs than the Rode wireless mics I've used in the past. It's a solid investment for any content creator who values high-quality audio, ease of use, and reliable performance. Highly recommend!

Accessible and easy to use
These mics work perfectly with my Sony A7IV & FX30. The no need to use a 3.5mm wire is a great addition when using the digital interface. Sound quality is clear. Although volume can’t be adjusted in camera when using, only the options on the body of the microphone. My only negative is that the off button is in the middle of digital and analog, it would of been smart to have this at either side instead of the middle and sometimes can get turned on by accident. Interms of weight and value for money, you can’t go wrong with this piece of kit.

Disappointing
This product should be great. Unfortunately it isn’t. In fact if you have relatively decent expectations this product is going to disappoint you. Firstly, some camera cages are going to stop you being able to mount it in the active hot shoe. I had to hack a bit out of my small rig one to allow the receiver to connect properly. That’s because the receiver juts forward a bit. Secondly, there is a high frequency noise on the signal. Just loud enough to be annoying. Thirdly, the receiver frequently shuts down. Possibly power saving. Possibly because the receiver draws from the hotshoe and I use an external power source that I shut of to save power. Lastly, the sound is not to my liking. It’s very compressed, lacks fidelity and is very gated meaning the voice is dry and the mic doesn’t pick up any ambient sound. This is great if you want a ours voice recording but a pain if you aren’t recording the room with another microphone to mix in later. So the result is very dead. I have to mention that the switch ergonomics also lead you to set the wrong attenuation and even switch the unit off by accident. A real shame as it’s basically a great idea badly engineered and implemented. Try again Sony. C

Melted faulty mic
The mic arrived with melted marks on it. I thought « okay it’s second hand, as long as it works I don’t care ». My camera finally arrived and I filmed stuff and realised it wasn’t working. Worst thing is I have to pay for the return 😑

Brilliant with ZV1
This is an amazing piece of equipment that has greatly improved the quality of my audio with the Sony ZV1 camera. At first I couldn’t get it to connect, but there are a couple of things you need to know. 1. Attach the receiver with the camera switched off. Make sure it is charged. You do not need the wire attached. Once is attached switch the transmitter on. Then switch the camera on. It will tell you it is not compatible. Then you flick the switch to analog. It will now connect and be working. Another thing to know is if you put it on 0 decibels you can put the receiver between two people on a table and it will pick them both up, or someone can hold it and use it like a hand held mic too. It’s fab! I too initially thought it wasn’t working.. but it works excellently.

Works well enough
Decent mic, perfect if you want a truly wireless setup on Sony cameras. It does lack some more professional features however, and is a bit expensive for what it is.
