Replacement Screw Assembly Compatable with Products Engineering Corporation (PEC), Mitutoyo, Brown & Sharp 4" and 6" Double and Combination Machinist Squares 6-CSADS

Worked perfectly on my mitutoyo 6 inch square

Brought this to replace one that broke, changed nut for appearance purposes works great.

I saw that some of the reviews said that it fits on the Empire combination squares but as you can see from my photo, it is too short. The Empire screw is about 1-7/16" long and this replacement is about 1-1/8" long. You "can" make it work if you remove the spring and flip the knurled nut upside-down, but you will only get a few threads grabbing. I'm going to keep searching for a proper replacement.

Used this to replace the equivalent that came on a empire branded square. Only recently has the foot become worn where it will not properly grip the channel milled in the ruler of the square. Purchased January of 2023 and it gets used daily and adjusted constantly during the work day. If available I will purchase again.Edit 5/30/24Purchased two more to fix some more empire squares, but these were slightly different. The inside of the nut was not milled out the same amount and I ended up having to add a washer as a spacer so it would tighten sufficiently. Without a spacer the nut would have to basically be drilled out or countersunk more to gain some depth for the spring to compress into and allow the nut to go farther before it ran out of thread.

I was always used a file to repair the small clamp for my empire square. Was going to buy another one but decided to go with this and way better alternative. Works great like the black and quick cheap fix.
