Exceptional sound, punch above their weight
These sound absolutely lovely. The detail is incredible, with a great soundstage and crisp, clear mids and treble. But at the same time, they're not tiring to listen to: they still have some warmth. Comfortable too.

Quality Pro Headphones
Had these headphones for around a week and have used them to mix and master a few songs, as well as used them for working in my edit suite. They are supremely comfortable and have a very good soundstage - neither too wide, nor too narrow. I am used to using closed backs (Beyers or Audio Technica) for recording instruments, so wanted a pair of open-backs for mixing and listening pleasure. I pair mine with Sonarworks Sound Reference ID to get a flat EQ curve when used for mixing - but these are quite flat up to around the 1k mark in any event. However the DETAIL these cans produce is a revelation and they are very responsive when dealing with transients (like drums). I thoroughly recommend them.

Better than Expected.
On my first listening I wasn't too impressed. They just sounded alright. I'd say about four or five days of use from new. The sound opened up and now they sound Very Good. I use them mostly to check mixes in relation to recording mastering quality. These headphones really do sound realistically good. I am pleased with them.

Insanely good sound
Really good wide soundscape. Crystal clear audio in every aspect. Not the most comfy headset and expensive, if you can stomach that then it's a real 10/10

Competes with much more expensive sets from Sennheiser and Beyer.
Comfortable and sounds great. Plastics could be stronger.

Not worth the money
I have some ancient cheap sennheissers that I thought time to replace, However in a back to back play off the senheissers won hands down in sound quality and fitting so returned these. Very disappointing.

Good build quality, less keen on sound and design. Prefer AKG K702.
Ear cups on a loose swivel by design which I didn't like. I found them a bit uncomfortable. Less fond of oval rather than round ear pads and I prefer felt to the material on Hi-65. Sound stage not nearly as big as K702. I felt separation and detail was significantly better in K702 but keep in mind that I am used to K702. I quickly realised that, for me, K702 is a much better buy, even though K702 break far too easily, even with ridiculously OTT careful use, due to their poorer build quality which was the main reason I wanted to try Austrian Audio Hi-65.Hi-65 were better in build quality than K702 but I didn't like their sound nor design. For me they sounded a bit more like closed backs somehow. An AKG K702 on an AKG K550mkiii or K553mkii design would be perfect for me. For closed back K550mkiii seems to be discontinued sadly and K553mkii sounds great but all pairs of K553mkii I tried had L-R channel imbalance issues (R much quieter than L) and had to give up trying to find a working pair new. I'm a classical musician. Others may like these Austrian Audio Hi-65 better than AKG K702. I didn't try Hi-65 out for more than a few minutes before putting them carefully back in the box. I tested with classical music lossless recordings with good dynamic range - no DRcompressed music used to test.

Unbelievable Quality
Superb headphones. Using them with my Fiio M11 ESS and Tidal Masters.Outstanding sound. You can hear every nuance.Best headphones I've owned. Excellent separation, brilliant soundstage, and they are loud.I've had loads of headphones and these are the best I've heard. I'm no audiophile, but I love my music, and these certainly hit the spot.Obviously, as they are open back, they leak sound, but use them in a quiet environment and your ears will be rewarded. I get goosebumps with some of my music. Well worth a listen!
