Q: Is the receiver battery powered? I need the transmitters and the receiver to be portable to places that have no power.

The receivers are battery-powered (2AA), and the mics draw power from the receivers (no separate button batteries). The transmitter however, is powered by a plug-in transformer. I think it's 12V, but I'm not positive. I've never seen a battery-powered transmitter in a system like this, but you might be able to rig something up. That said, the range is pretty good, so you might be able to get it to work if you're close to a power source. Depending on the location (with a clear path to the receivers), you can probably get 100-200 ft from the transmitter.

Q: One of the transmitters stopped working. is there a way to fix it or do i need to purchase another tranmsitter? i just bought it a few months ago!

I would try getting ahold of Amazon or the manufacturer and see if they can get you a replacement. That shouldn't happen. I've had mine for a couple months now as well and it's usually all over my desk and it still works.
