Dell Latitude E6420 Laptop - HDMI - i5 2.5ghz - 4GB DDR3 - 320GB - DVD - Windows 10 64bit - (Renewed)

I've had this computer for several weeks and I'm very happy with it - have little problems with it. It runs sims 3 perfectly fine - BUT not really with other programs. Can use this computer to play sims OR do something else, not really both. But from my reading, I saw that I didn't want Windows10s for sure, and this was the best machine I could afford with the best specs. It's been wonderful. It is slow, but that is to be expected. Battery life isn't great, but it does work. I can use it unplugged for about a half an hour. When in use it charges VERY slowly -but it does charge. The other laptops I've had the battery died completely within 2-3 years, so I am glad it works at all. Additionally, it is quite light weight, which makes it easy to carry. My last two laptops are quite cumbersome. But this weights only a little more than my kindle fire and can do a lot more. It is currently running Sims 3 in the background, as well as explorer and word. When I switch to word - it will take at least 2 minutes to load. Sims 3 might take 3-5 minutes to be up and running again, but then it will work.

When I got it, I added more memory, a new drive and converted it to a Linux Mint laptop. I created, edited, and published a weekly Pod-Cast with this laptop. I did not use the built-in audio for this purpose. I used a Sennheiser microphone and a small mixing board which were all purchased here on Amazon.The laptop got about 12 hours of constant use per day! When recording, I used it on battery and got about 9 hours of use before it needed a charge. For some reason battery life is shorter in Microsoft Windows any version, which it originally came with.While I hated to see it go, this computer is retired now because the keyboard failed and no good quality keyboard replacement was available at the time I needed it to work. So I had to work fast to keep my Pod-Cast episodes on time. I bought another laptop, here on Amazon, and I am very happy with that one too even though it is a different brand. Low price was a factor in that decision.

Unfortunately if I could I would give this product negative stars! Complete scam! When we opened the computer the inside was filthy, the cloth we wiped it down with was black after we were done. When we turned it on there were purple lines through the entire screen as seen in the pictures above. As the computer tried to boot up we waited to see if the purple lines would disappear. The computer was very slow to boot up which is probably because as the sticker on the laptop keyboard showed it was a Windows 7 computer that they had just installed windows 10 on, which is not compatible. After about 30 minutes the purple lines did disappear and we were able to start using the computer. It was very slow on the Internet and even to open email. We then discovered that the battery did not Hold a charge, once unplugged from the power it lasted about 10 minutes and died and it had been plugged in for over three hours. We also discovered that every time the laptop was closed after using and then re-opened the next time the purple lines were present on the screen. This laptop is a complete scam not worth the money or the hassle thankfully Amazon has a great return policy and we were able to get our money backVery easily and quickly. I would not Take the risk of buying from this supplier if at all possible!

We received this laptop a few weeks ago for the purpose of simple CAD operations and while we did install some CAD software we are not going to use it for that other than for kids use with a Davinci JR. We were originally going to use it for an older version of Jewelry CAD for a store. In the end, we did not continue that process - BUT We have now reassigned the laptop to our High School Students School and it works perfectly! We are also Chromebook users for school and almost went the Windows Netbook approach but decided we wanted a CD ROM and a lot more space that we could backup on our own. Even though this laptop if more than several years old - it still is PEPPY and can handle everything we have thrown at it. I'm not sure how good it would be for gaming - but again simple CAD renderings worked just fine. Other than some normal wear and tear the screen is a little loose at the hinge - but I think that could be expected with the age. - As a side note - We processed an earlier order for this laptop - same vendor - which accepted a return without problems - this is the second order and we are very pleased.

Pros:Advertised as 2.5 GHz processor - the one I received was 2.7 and benchmarked at 3.1.Advertised as 4GB ram - came with 8GB.Came with Win 10 pro - if it says you can't activate it use the activation code on the bottom of the computer - it worksI switched out the hard drive for an SSD and this thing is screaming fast - Win 10 fully boots in 6 seconds.Cons:They didn't package it right so the box was just hanging open when it arrived.The screen and keyboard were FILTHY. Just took a minute to clean it but this and the sloppy packaging shows they do not care about quality.The screen is in very bad condition. Useable but stained and scratched badly.The webcam is so blurry its unusable.I don't plan to carry this around as a laptop. I just plugged in an external monitor, keyboard and webcam so I don't care about the screen and webcam problems. For my purposes this is great.If you plan to actually use it as a laptop stay away. The condition of the elements important for that was terrible.

Why buy new when I bought a refurbished laptop? It arrived in a box as if it was brand new, very super, clean, very neat, very fast, very durable, and the best part was the price.Only a quarter of what it would have cost me new. But don't get me wrong. It is new, I'm helping the environment. I'm helping my bank account. I love it and the optics on the screen are out of this world. It's just, i'm very happy.Try you want
