They're cute buuuut...
I ordered this set of canisters along with the larger 'biscuits' canister. The 'biscuits' one is lovely, and just what I was looking for. It has a rubber(-ized) gasket around the lid, and the lid removes and replaces easily. This set, however... not so much. Firstly, 5 stars for appearance! They're really cute and look nice in my 1930s kitchen. I received the order but didn't open the box right away (that's on me!), because we were still remodeling the kitchen and had non-essentials packed away. I finally got to unpack everything a few days ago. One of the canister lids' handles was broken loose on one side. Not the end of the world - a little Gorilla glue and all is right, so I thought. (I was juuuuust outside the return window.)All 3 of these things were nigh-impossible to get open. The lids would NOT come off. One was merely difficult, the other 2... I tried soaking them for about 10 minutes in very hot water, tried rocking the lid a bit, and finally resorted to using a butter knife to slightly bend out the sides of the canisters. I got the lids off, but not before knocking a chunk out of one of my knuckles on the folded parts of the handle. There's no gaskets on the smaller canisters. This may have helped the lids not be stuck. As they are, we will either have to not put the lids on all of the way, or (more likely) try bending the metal a little. All in all, 5 stars for looks; 1.5 stars for functionality - at least on the set I got. At this price, I expected a little better.UPDATE May 2024: I have since purchased the individual canisters for tea and coffee. These work just fine! We don't use the sugar on every often, but I am still debating purchasing it separately. All in all, I have heard *NOTHING* from the seller or manufacturer about my issues - which is very disappointing.
