I'm disabled and only use the mouse on my laptop (typing via an onscreen keyboard). My new computer is a thin and light, metal-cased model and the processor must be directly under where my hand sits, and my hand stays there for hours at a time without moving. It gets uncomfortably warm even with moderate use. Using this cooling pad, even unplugged, improved airflow enough to help me in my use case, and with it on it's as cool as can be.Fan noise is noticeable but not distracting.If you have bottom-firing speakers like me, you too may notice that sound can make its way out more freely and give you a bit more volume.The only thing I would change is I wish I could disable the light. Maybe you can and I just haven't found a control yet, but it just isn't a feature that appeals to me. It's fairly unobtrusive, though, even in a dark room.I don't have any idea how effective this would be with high-end, high-powered, discrete graphics workhorses under a load, but for me, it's perfect and a great value.

I was looking for a powerful laptop cooler for my old laptop, well this one did the trick! Couldn't be more satisfied

It's bulky, it's loud, but it stops my computer from freezing in the middle of work due to overheating. The plastic bits to stop the computer from slipping bite into my wrists when I type even with a wrist cushion to elevate them. I wish they were shorter.Small prize to pay to be able to use my laptop for long periods of time but that is why 1 start got removed.
