So as far as flavor goes, it taste like nothing. Not nearly as sweet as sugar, that's a HUGE plus in my book. And personally I hate those artificial sweeteners everyone is using these days.I didn't know people actually cook with this stuff. I use it to get a good insulin spike after a workout while drinking a Protein Shake. Better than sugar as there is no fructose, and the glucose goes directly from your intestines to your blood, bypassing your liver. Cheapest and best I've found anywhere

I used to buy Now brand dextrose, but had to use vanilla beans to make it smell good. I'm happy having switched to Judee's brand as it smells nice and clean.

This dextrose (5 lbs is more than I pictured in a fluffy powdered sugar texture type product!) comes in a nice heavy duty Mylar type foil lined bag with a thick resealable ziplock type seal across the top. I like that I can store it in the bag and feel safe about it staying fresh.The first thing we tried with this was a sugary drink mix! My father remembers his Grandma sending him dextrose cubes when he was a kid - they would add them to water and drink plain. What kid doesn’t love some good sugar water, right?! We mixed in some lemon juice to class it up this time around and it is delicious. :) A bit less sweet than a lemonade with straight sugar.Dextrose is a great choice for sports drinks and times when you need to refresh sugar levels fast - your body processes it easier than regular sugar, so it can give you an energy jolt in a timely manner. My high school athletes are going to use it instead of sugar when their post workout smoothies need sweetening.From my perspective dextrose is great because it helps brown baked goods differently than straight sugar. I am going to try subbing 1/2 sugar 1/2 dextrose into recipes that normally look a bit anemic in appearance (biscuits, scones, etc) and see how that goes.So that’s what you can do with 5 lbs of dextrose if you aren’t using it to manage diabetes! From a quality perspective there are no lumps in this powder and it is a very finely processed texture that reminds me of cake flour / powdered sugar. As mentioned, the quality bag makes storing easy. Happy to be able to give this small business two thumbs up for a great job with this useful ingredient!

We have gotten multiple things from Judee's before and have loved all of them. Judee's is an American made company and a small business so a great one to support. Dextrose is a great sugar replacement that is not quite as sweet as regular sugar but you can use it just the same. Its great in baked goods, works perfectly in coffee and tea, and worked just the same in pancakes and sweet breads. It is sweet, but definitely not as sugary sweet as the same amount of regular sugar would be. I cut back on the sugar in most sweet things that I make anyway so this works perfectly for me.One thing I'm not sure why they did it is why did they make the bag so GIANT. They could have easily fit 10-12 lbs of dextrose in the bag when they are selling 5 lbs in it. It is a huge waste of packaging and would be cheaper for them in the long run to make the packaging smaller.

I like all of Judee’s products. This one is no different. Dextrose powder can be used for a lot of different things. I use this to make a simple syrup. I also use this to make my own rehydration drink mixes. You can use this just like you use sugar. This bag is huge for the price and will last a long time. Highly recommended.
